Downgrading Columbus RNS 510 to Bolero RCD 510

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just bought long time searched Superb Greenline 2011. Now it has factory Columbus RNS 510 headunit. I want to downgrade it to Bolero RCD 510. And I have few questions:

1. If I temporally remove original Columbus unit, and reinstall it i.e. after 1 year, it won't require factory code? It will read it from CAN bus ECU?

2. Newer type Bolero RCD 510 from >2012 won't fit my dash, because it has slightly different shape?

3. BT telephone connection will be working with any pre 2012 Bolero RCD 510?

4. Same applies for parking sensors?

5. Maybe there are better, not too expensive 3rd party alternatives for Bolero RCD 510?

6. Heard that few Columbus RNS 510 has option to show TV? But not all Superb's has this functionality installed by factory?

BTW: reason for downgrade - Columbus are stolen like a hell in my place ...

Would an android replacement for the Columbus work instead?

Don't lose functionality; but also reduce it as a target for thieves?

They've been a few threads lately reviewing different android units
