Injector vcds help

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help I think I have a problem with my asv injectors on cold days the car smokes (like people vape) a white smoke  just on start up once ran for a few seconds you can turn it off then back on and it starts with very little smoke this usually happens after it's been left overnight or for the week then started.

I have also noticed it sometimes has loads of power but other times none as if in limp mode but no fault on the vcds I can turn ignition off then back on but it makes no difference, So today I had a play on the vcds measuring blocks and found injector quantity deviation the pic is the results      Cyl 1 = -0.05

Cyl 2 = -0.05

Cyl 3 = -0.47

Cyl 4 = -0.42    engine speed 903/min

Does this mean that two of my injectors at way too far out (broken) or is this normal any help would be great thanks

Have you checked the condition of the glow plugs recently.

Glow plugs help a lot post starting on these engines to reduce smoke. I'm not saying this fill fix your other issues but its a fairly quick and free test to carry out.

Another possibility are that the injector seals are weeping a bit of fuel past and while the engine is off diesel accumulates in the cylinders and causes a bit of smoke on start-up, not sure on the power issues though, could be related but it could also be a different issue

Oh and IMO those deviations look ok, looking from the coolant temp the engine was not at operating temperature either and in my experience that can make a difference to these values

Yeah about a month ago I replaced glow plugs. Will I have to disassemble the injectors to replace seal? or is it the copper seal that sits on the end of the injector? or is it a whole new injector? The loss of power could it be the infamous sticky veins on the turbo? that everyone goes on about and if so does the mr muscle clean work? thanks for the reply

And the car starts first turn without problem

When i replied last i presumed it was the PD engine but just noticed your car is a 2002 so I think i was wrong.

Does it have a belt driven fuel pump on it?
