Red Octavias?

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm looking to buy a vRS Octavia and much prefer the Red & Black. Truth be known the yellow one's do it for me but I'm far too old for a yellow car!!

Anyway, what I'm after is a bit of feedback regarding the quality of the paintwork on red octavias, as red cars seem to be affected most by the sun and tend to fade quite badly once older than a few years.

Do the red one's bear up?

Any help/advice appreciated

Lance

Mine is 5 years old now and no fading. Red usually fades on old cars but think the quality of paint is better now.

I've found the red paint to be fine. Just keep the waxing quite regular and it looks fantastic. For me, the ultimate vRS colour! When clean, the red looks fantastic and the shine is beautiful.

You'll see how good mine is after 2 years here:

Unfortunately now up for sale on ebay- gonna miss her :(

Edited to remove link before I get in trouble with the mods for advertising!

I can sort of agree about the older car, but not had my Skoda long enough to comment. Heres a pic of my pink Golf next to my red Tavia :D

Another vote for red, mine is a 2001 Octy vRS in Rally Red, no probs as yet, and looks really good when polished up.

Here's mine:

Modern red paint dosent fade like it used to. My Red 1997 Seat Toledo was hardly ever washed (once or twice a year), never waxed and the paint still looked as good as new when it was retired at 180,000 miles. The origional touch up paint used for stone chips still matched perfectly. The car is still going and is owned by a friend. It was the low running costs that influenced me to buy the octavia. Now 6 months old 16,000 miles and not washed !!!

I can't believe you've just admitted that  :P

Or is it in the hope that some keen Briskodian will take pity on your car and come round and clean it for you? ;)

Perhaps the accumulated dirt protects your cars from the sun and adverse weather????:)

Wax on, wax off.

Wax on, wax off.

And the finishing cloth attached to something else at the same time, dependent how cold it is outside:P

Wardy and Beretta. No I couldnt care less how dirty my car is, however I have once cleaned the rear number plate and lights. I drive a lot and so the car is only a transport device. I live down a muddy and often flooded country lane and would either have to clean the car daily or not bother. I have found over the years that only so much dirt can stick to the paintwork !!! Some years ago some research into polishing cars found no benefit apart from your ego. The paint can in some instances can start to wear and get thinner. I rest my case.
