Mk1 Octavia vRS Project For Sale - possibly FREE. Read on!

Featured Replies

This is a serious post, so read to the end: my bright red Octavia vRS Mk1 that I’ve had as the only real owner from new in 2002 needs adopting and a new home. She’s not in A1 condition and was a Class 3 write off in 2011 as ‘beyond economical repair’ though perfectly driveable at the time! My wife's always found it too stiffly sprung, we're moving house, we've bought a Superb Combi second hand and so the Octy has to go.

The essentials are:

  1. ·         engine (168K miles all driven by me bar the delivery!), Bailey dump-valve to protect turbo, high-pass permanent air-filter, Stage 1 custom remap from Jabbasport giving 232.9 bhp and 321.2Nm torque (see graphs attached)

  2. ·         gearbox (standard 5-speed),

  3. ·         clutch (vr6 single-plate replacement),

  4. ·         suspension (poly-bushed front),

  5. ·         shock absorbers – replaced recently all round

  6. ·         brakes: standard fit with heavy-duty pads

  7. ·         exhaust: milltek S/S front to back

  8. ·         Battery: Yuasa heavy-duty replacement is <1 year old
  9. ·         Current MOT expires 17-Jan-2018
  10. Cruise Control, Electric Tilt/Slide Sunroof and Parking Sensors are Factory Fit Originals

As a result of the write off and subsequent professional repair, most of the front is 6 years old including the air-con bits and headlights – silver lining to the cloud! Bodywork is actually quite good but needs TLC inside; wheels are good for their age including the full-size spare, tyres will need replacing before long depending on how you drive. Electrics have been uncharacteristically robust except central-locking doesn’t work on NSR, but sunroof and parking sensors fitted from new do work. The Pioneer DAB radio with Bluetooth is brilliant.

Because of the poly-bushed suspension, steering is accurate and tight, as is braking.

Here’s the deal: I've loved this car from the moment I first drove it, I revelled in the engine, the turbo whine, the dump valve hiss and the subtle growl from the exhaust. But, I haven't got the time or space to do what I'd like to do. If you have, and want either a fun track car or a (cheap) good-fun runabout, I want £400 or near offer for someone to take it away and enjoy it. If you publish pictures of the ‘restoration’ or modifications on the Briskoda website and let me know they’re there, you can have £250 back after 12 months otherwise I’ll assume you’ve broken the car for spares and I'll keep the money – it’s mechanically too good for scrap and would be great fun for someone to work on as a project or track car.

PM me through Briskoda to arrange a viewing and drive if you’re interested. Hi-Res pictures are available at: https://1drv.ms/f/s!Apmta5Y9ES-giqIkTpxCQdRa24D1HA

Hey bspman, £400, but needs a good clean and some work here and there. It breaks my heart to give it up as we've been together longer than any other relationship! And she's been more reliable . . .

Bridgend's not that far - Wales isn't the end of the world, you know!! Whizz up the M4 with a mate.

The issue isn't the cost of the car, but the quotes on insurance!

I don't really have much space to sorn the thing.

It's certainly a looker, well worth a long trip to aquire this.

I keep telling myself, don't keep looking at it, it's the red paintwork that draws me, I've got a nice little sports job in the same colour.

Won't be me but I bet this goes by the end of the weekend. Good luck and a very generous offer/price ;)

Serious interest here. @j0hn and I have been looking for a Track Sl4g for some time.

Just awaiting insurance quotes.

Spot On, Mick. Gone to Skoda_Saint who popped by this afternoon. I'd even cleaned it up since the photos, so it looked even better. Really wish I could have kept it, but I reckon it'll be cared for well.

Hi J0hnnnnny! Gone, I'm afraid and probably going to be used on the road for the foreseeable as in good nick for the age. You'll probably see her around at the odd meet, but won't see me as I'm off to France shortly. Hope you find a good candidate and have a lot of fun. James

No worries chap.

Pleased it's gone to a good home.
