Removing wire from clock spring to replace

Featured Replies

Finally got everything together to replace my clock spring. The only bit I'm struggling with now is how to remove the yellow wiring clip that goes from the steering wheel into the clock spring. I've wiggled it a bit but don't want to break it!

Actually scrap that I've just got it off... question is now is how do I get the new clock spring in...

Is the steering wheel off?

Yep steering wheel off and the housing surrounding indicators

It's just clipped on with plastic clips.

Three of these....

Bingo spring in steering wheel back on, and the airbag light is still on :(

I think airbag faults have to be actively cleared with VCDS or similar, even after the fault is fixed.

That's what I figured after reading more on the forum! However the ecu light that was on has vanished so that has to help!

Hopefully one final question I can get help with ... where's the best place to get replacement screws from.

Looks like someones had the steering wheel off before and lost half the screws for the plastic cover detailed above, and I've lost the bloody hex bolt (I was fixing it at 6am this morning!)

Steering wheel bolt is part number N90799101. You would have to get it from Skoda. There is a used one on ebay for an Octavia but it's just the same.

Or a Fabia listed one for a tenner http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Skoda-Fabia-MK1-Steering-Wheel-Fixing-Bolt-/292076828157?fits=Car+Make%3ASkoda|Model%3AFabia&hash=item440122b5fd:g:pTAAAOSwVctY5CLF

Column cowling screw size and part numbers are in my other post and should be available from Skoda.  It's quite possible to find screws of the same size elsewhere (ebay) though.
