We just bought and Octavia Scout and a Fabia 1.2TSi Colour edition

Hello

An introduction from me - and thank you for inviting me to join the Briskoda Forum...

My name is Phil and I've just returned to Skoda ownership. I'm a 64 semi-retired Communications Specialist who lives in North Yorkshire. I also serve in the community as a Magistrate.  My hobbies are amateur radio and walking.

In 2002 we had an Octavia 4X4 Petrol which we bought new then - we sold that car in 2005 and have run various other models since then.  The Octavia model  I now have is a totally different car to the oldie...

Last Saturday I took delivery of an Octavia Scout Estate 4X4 manual 150 diesel on a 66 plate - colour race blue and 10 months old with just under 12K on the clock. I got a good PX deal from Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield, which is 100 miles from our home in North Yorkshire, against my 15 plate Suzuki Vitara.  For a car of the Octavia's size and comfort I am delighted to report a fuel consumption of 56 and 59 mpg on the two journeys drive so far, over a distance of 160 miles.

I've just purchased one of these bumper protectors from the famous auction site: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-BUMPER-SILL-PROTECTOR-TRIM-COVER-STEEL-SKODA-OCTAVIA-III-SCOUT-ESTATE-2014/252336493528?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 its coming from Poland.... It's likely to arrive in a week to ten days, fingers crossed it comes!  It should stop our dog from scratching the bumper when she jumps into the back...

As well as me buying the Scout my wife Judy was also getting itchy feet about her car, so we are changing that, a 64 plate Suzuki S-Cross for a Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSi Colour Edition in Green / Black. This is coming from the same dealership in Mansfield. Once again we were satisfied with the PX deal offered against her Suzuki on the pre-regd 17 plate Fabia. We pick that car up next Tuesday.

Plenty to read about our Skoda models on the Briskoda Net - I'm glad to have stumbled across Briskoda when I was looking for reviews of the Scout.

Best wishes

Phil

Hi and welcome

Interesting that you have moved from 2 Suzuki's.

I am very tempted by a Scout as well when I change my Freelander.  I would be interested to hear more about your experiences as you get to know the Scout.

My wife has a Yeti with the SCR 150 bhp DSG engine/gearbox and we are completely sold on it.

Best wishes

Hi Phil and welcome,

I'm just down the road in Kirkbymoorside I'll keep my eyes open for you on the road, hope you enjoy your new toys

Hi Phil, that's a committed move to Skoda with two new models, enjoy!

Hello Phil welcome along to the Skoda forum good choice .:)

Well R1100 first impressions driving the Scout are great - comfort, quietness on the move, economy, it all bodes well for the future with the car. There are plenty on the market on the 15 plate - mainly ex VW Financial Services lease cars I believe. The one I got being less than a year old on a 66 plate are more scarce, and retail for about £2500 more than a 2/3 year old model. I like the Amundsen "infotainment" unit and I'm still on a learning curve with it.  With the wifi in the Amundsen I found out last night with the car sat on my drive that I could access music tracks which are on the computer in my house!  It was just a test, and at present I am unsure what I can use the wifi in the car actually for!  Maybe someone on Briskoda can enlighten me?

OK David in Kirkbymoorside - pleased to meet you on the forum and thanks for looking out. Give me a flash if you see me about!

Superb 170 - my wife is not much of a petrol head, so she tends to be guided by me, however a test drive in the Fabia Colour 1.2 TSi convinced her that was the car she wanted. I understand that the Fabia Colour Edition is no longer sold with the 1.2 89/90 BHP engine any longer as they have moved over to the 3 cylinder 1.0 MPi engine.

Jed (Clampett) - remember him well - thanks for the welcome!

All the best

Phil

Thanks for the update and enjoy your new cars

Good old Jed he's a bit stiff now not just is up lip.;)
