Wipers remain up after locking

Featured Replies

Hi guys, first time poster (first time forumer).

I'm not sure if this has been bought up before but searching didn't result in anything.

One of my pet peeves parking with the wipers half way up the screen. What is this, the 80's?

Surly nowadays, after the ignition is turned off or the car is locked the wipers should lower themselves into the park position.

Is this something the octavia can do, or is capable of doing?

I've tried holding the lock button on the key and all the variations and started feeling self conscious that  I looked like a nutter standing there jabbing buttons.

Can anyone help or at least tell me if there is a topic in existence.

Thanks very much in advance.

Luke

Thanks for the reply Toni. Unfortunately not. If I get out of the car when it's raining and run indoors, because of the time I turned off the ignition the wipers are half way up the window. Is there a setting or option to make them so they go down when I get out of the car.

Does that make sense.

You are looking for this VCDS coding:

Can this be done with obdeleven?

It certainly can.

Sometimes you want the wipers to stop upright, maybe if you are putting a frost protector under the wipers.

Sounds a bit OCD. Next you'll want the wheel badges to all face upright when you park....lol

Thats what the service position is for. If you stop the wipers mid sweep then they'll want to continue when you turn the ignition back on. The service position moves them to the top of the sweep then holds them there, saving you from wrecking them if you happen to forget the next morning.

Wipers, Auto Park, my 230 does it..........

Hahahaha glosrich yeah I'd say I am a little OCD :D

I don't have odbeleven but I do have Carista OBD2 I can't see the option in there.

Does anyone know people in Essex who can help me with VCDS coding? As I'm well out of my depth with that.

Thank for the replies.

What is this service position how do you get this i have coded mine with vcds to auto park with ignition off so would be good to know.

Thanks

Turn the ignition on, then off and then press the wiper stalk down and let go. the wipers will move and stop in the upright position on the screen.

( think thats how its done )

This is correct.

Worked on A5FL as well. Wipers are deeply hidden under the hood, so you should NEVER try to push them manually out. Only use service mode as AG explained above.

After you start car in service mode, after a minute or so, they will go down (unless you pull stalk).

Scratching the glass and wearing the blades as they go. Simply Clever.

Beats chipping the paint on the bonnet when you clean/change the blades. How many times in a year will you put them in the Service position

I never bother using the service position for washing. If you're careful you can lift enough for get under. So that's me st once a year when changing blades.

Does this require the pro pack? Or is it an app?

I got the pro version, which i think is required for coding. I don't know if there is an app as I don't use them.  I prefer to code/adapt myself so I can see exactly what's being changed.

Is there a tut or video on how to do it? I'm going g to order an adapter.

I always use it, so that I can clean the rubbers of stuck- on seeds and other debris. As well as inspecting them for wear and tear.
