Hi All, Driving the car today and I noticed the air con switch was not lighting up, just ran VCDS and no faults are showing, just checked the fuses are they are OK, even checked the main fuses on the battery and they are all OK, are there any common faults ? cheers Stuart

Was the system actually producing cold air? Did you hear a change in engine note as you toggled the switch on and off (as the aircon kicked in and out). If so, Given the lack of error codes, it could be something as simple as the light in the switch has failed (that happens quite a lot with illuminated switches).

 

no codes suggest the system is actually working.

Hi Chris, thanks for the quick reply, hopefully just found the fault, the blower switch only works on No4 and non of the other settings ! and the light and cooling has come on when on full belt ! so its looking like the resistor pack for the blower motor, if I turn the blower down to say 3 the air con light goes out after a couple of seconds ! I presume the resistor pack is in the ducting ?  cheers Stuart

I think @harisma23 has the workshop manual. Failing that its a 7 euro download from ERWIN SKoda.

Unfortunately I don't have the workshop manual. I think maybe eyegr has it.

Changed the resistor OK, remove the glovebox and its top right behind some insulation then its a bit awkward trying to turn it with the end of your fingers or if you have small hands remove the pollen filter and reach up inside, its worth cleaning the pollen filter while its out, its the same part as on the Fabia so found one on ebay for £10, jobs a good en

Which one did you buy from Ebay? as there are quite a few on there and they all say they are not compatible with the Skoda rapid Spaceback 1.2!
