Gave the car to a friend to take to Crail at the weekend for German Invasion. Was the busiest i've ever seen it so hardly any runs. Best was a 13.880 @ 106mph but they had constant issues their timing gear so not sure how accurate that is. I did take it for one run myself thought as i couldn't resist it. Also managed to get the 0-60 down to 5.8 seconds and 0-100 mph in 12.5 seconds

Came up on my facebook memories today that it's now been a year since the engine change was done and had a look and it's done 18,700 miles in the last 12 months and that included being off the road for nearly a month while doing the gearbox swap and still constantly hurts the feelings of the mk2 Fabia vRS owners page.

Have you never done the engine change with your V5 to the DVLA or have they just not changed it on the database?

How did you manage that? Road debris?

No idea it was on the inside of the tyre as well. It looks like it might have been like that a while though looking at the stress marks.

You have checked the state of the spring on the front strut, haven't you....?

It’s fine

You mention stress marks on both sides  could they be result of torque , is it the wheel with the shortest drive shaft. What is the speed rating of the tyres.

Nope longest drive shaft and they were a Y rating so 186mph

Stuck the new tyres on on Friday after work and then did a 300 mile drive on Saturday to scrub them in before Crail on sunday

New tyres did seem to make a big difference with every single run bar 2 was in the 13's 1 due to missing 2nd and the other the time gear failed and had my and the other car as a jump when we didn't even move. Fastest time was 13.700 @ 109mph and 0-60 down to 5.6 seconds

Busy last couple of weekends, took the car to crail again no faster times but 0-60 down to 5.67 seconds and 0-100 down to 12.2 seconds

Then the past weekend went to the Scottish Festival of Motoring and stuck it on the dyno, first time i've done a show with it since the build and was surprised at how many people knew about it and came up asking about the car.

Then after the show another member had cracked a wheel when in scotland on holiday so 130 mile trip to help him out and give him a wheel so he can get home

Some videos from Crail on Sunday, tried a new rear suspension mod to help stiffen it up, didn't improve the 60ft as planned but improved the 1/8 mile by .1 and the 1/4 by .2 so i'm guessing it's stopping the pitching the car does during the gear changes.

Best times were

0 - 60mph in 5.47 seconds

0 - 100mph in 11.86 seconds

1/4 mile 13.590 @ 108.70mph

Then yesterday took a trip down to Croft with Darkside Developments and spent time time with Tomas who mapped my car and went out in his Monte Carlo as well

So on the same lines as me putting stiffer spring in the back of mine then :D, granted for VASTLY different reasons!

Have to love how easy it is to swap springs on the back of these.

I just need to change mine to B16s at some point if I can ever find out what the difference is on the rears.

Another day at crail on Sunday. Trap speeds were down so seemed to be down on power but with full interior and no suspension changes it still did a 5.48 to 60mph and 13.680 @ 107mph

So did some investigating to find out why the trap speeds were low the last time it was out, with some help from a couple of the guys at darkside and noticed injector devation on cylinder 2 was off. Pulled the injectors sent them down to get tested came back fine. Swapped the injectors around still showing issue in cylinder 2. Noticed it then started to use oil as much as a MK2 Fabia vRS does. Check the turbo seals all ok car still had plenty of power as it would spin the tyres in 3rd but oil consumpsion slightly concerning. Got bored and moved onto helping other folk with their projects such as 8 second passes at pod and drift cars.

Thought id revisit the Fabia after the sessions had finished a couple of months back. Truck it on a truck and sent it down to Darkside who started looking into it and low and behold we found this 😂 guess that explains the oil consumpsion issue then.

52430377114_f96003b35e_c.jpg

Also always had an issue with getting 5th gear in the 6 speed box (used to have to double clutch it going into 5th) never really thought much of it but the guys at Darkside always like to make sure everythings perfect and right for the cars when they leave so they had a look at it and this is what we found.

So one of the spare gearboxes from their world record holding Arosa drag car was swiftly stolen and stuck in the Fabia.

And now it's came back home, Both me and Darkside are determinded this car isn't going to die 🤣 back down in a few weeks for some extra custom interior bits

Looks good mate , I take it they have increased the piston ring gap on all four pistons now , that looks like the ring pinching together and cracking the piston same as the TSI engines suffer with?
