Low coolant level

Featured Replies

Just noticed the coolant level on 66 plate Octavia 1.4 TSI is just above min level. It has done approx 4000 miles. I can't see any sign of any leaks. Could I just top up with water and keep an eye on the level or top it with coolant?

Yeah, just top it up & watch it for a while, a lot of times they come outta the factory with little amounts of air in the system.

If you are going to top it up, just a small amount, not to MAX, because above MIN and below MAX is OK,

that is why there is no FILL TO THIS LEVEL mark.

Or just mark the level cold with a marker pen and next time you are passing a Main Dealership have them put some G13 coolant in.

Did you ever look where the level was when you collected it 4,000 miles ago?

Thanks for the replys. Iam sure it was at a higher level when I picked up.

A 1.5l bottle of the correct G13 coolant is approx £12, you can get it from any VW, seat, Audi or Skoda dealer whichever is most convenient.

As said they can be a bit low from the factory or some airlocks let the level drop.
