I am having new car thoughts, Brabus?

Featured Replies

As much as I love the furby, I am having bad thoughts in my head

The Smart Roadster Brabus:

Mid engine, rear wheel drive, 832kgs, 101bhp, and a flappy paddle gear box.

Apperently a hoot to drive and the handling is awesome.

Went to the dealership today, although they didnt have a Brabus unfortunately, they still had a roadster, sat in the thing and christ your bum is about 10" of the ground

Interior is great, steering wheel directly infront of you, and sod all space around you :D

Just fancy something light and nimble and with the 3-4 days of sunshine we get a year would be a hoot with the roof off.

Test driving a non Brabus one tomorrow, will let you know how I get on

Would appreciate any thoughts, opinions

Looks

Loving the red Brabus one pictured above. Would love to hear how a Brabus test goes. How much are they again? :rubchin:

Great car, hugely expensive as it carries the Brabus name. Fairly expensive servicing. I suspect insurance will be up a bit too.

Affectionatly known as Leaksters - Smart stopped producing them as they can't afford the warranty claims.

I reckon you are looking at about £18 - £20k for one of those aren't you.

Go for it, my mate traded in his rx 8 for one, closest thing to go-cart for the road. Have a drive in an Elise also.

Hmm, not sure tbh. But I'm sure its a fab fun little car!

Just wait for the "mod vultures" to swoop down... (We need a new smilie! )

(Can I have the brakes?)

Being 20 and group 14, thought the insurance would be pretty bad, and I was right, £3000.00

But after some more quotes managed to find a £1400.00 which I am pretty happy with :)

But how am I going to get my golf clubs in it

have you had a look on Autotrader. I did, there are a few on there.

There is also the BlueWave which was launched shortly before the Brabus and oddly enough was more expensive IIRC. Smart capitalised on those that couldn't wait for the Brabus so one of those might be a good buy.

You could then have a nice little map added to sweeten it up.

Go for it if you can. These Fabia vRS's are all to common ;)

brabus are great tuners.

all of their merc cars are completely nuts but when it comes to their smarts i just cant justify the amount of money they are asking, but i do know smarts do bring a smile to your face  (uncle had one of the first in the uk a couple of years before they went on sale here)

I see there's one on 'Trader within 40 miles of me:

04 Reg SMART Roadster-Coupe Brabus, 30k miles. £12k.

I'm tempted to go for a test-drive TBH, just to see what it's like :D

EDIT: There's a few on the used car section of the Smart website too (www.smart.com) - one at Smart of Hertford, which shouldn't be too far for you :)

From the reviews I've just been reading (Honest John & 4Car) they seem very positive, although they both comment on over-assisted steering.

That red with silver example still looks the best though - stunning....

Nice looking car, much much better than standard (it ain't girly lookin' :D) but I wouldn't spend the money for a name when they couldn't even think about making it a proper Brabus with at least 150bhp with that weight.

Brabus have an SLR version of their own which upped acceleration by just 0.2 seconds and top speed by a couple of miles and hour, with re-done interiors, and it's almost twice the price of the stock SLR.

Waste of money they are, though they do make nice bodykits.

Does this mean you'll be re-registering on here as "Smart-A55" ?

Golf clubs?! How old are you :rofl:

Everyone I've spoken who owns one loves them so let us know what you think on the test drive :D

Did you give http://www.msminsurance.co.uk/ a try? Would recommend it, I know a lot of people who have been quoted surprisingly cheap cover on their smart from them...

Personally, I wouldn't pay the extra for the Brabus, I'd get a standard 80bhp one and get it remapped by one of their many smart tuners - remaps can be had for as little as

Always thought Brabus did themselves no favours messing with the roadster.0-60 in 9.8 and top end 121 mph.Same as a 1.4 tdi Fabia.I know it feels faster but I would want to outgun two old dears in a Fabia if I had Brabus plastered over it.

Nice fun car I know but I would do what Rob says. The Brabus version is all show (nice show) and not much more go.

I am sure someone did something amazing witha roadster.A proper performance one.Think it was about

Loz - your probably thinking of the V6 bi-turbo Roadster I believe some company knocked up.

I know a few companies are dropping motorbike engines into them - MUST RESIST

Hearing those figures does sort of put it in perspective about the Brabus though :rubchin:

There was the one with 2x700cc engines in it (so a 1.4 V6 twin-turbo engine IIRC).

Cost was about

Was actually Brabus who did it...still,

Which reminds me' date=' have you checked out all the servicing costs for the Roadster...it's not cheap... :)

Not only that I keep hearing of the leaking stories

After a thread on smart forum I posted I am not so sure on the Brabus anymore, it seems they share the opinions of some on here.

All show (and very nice show) but not much more go, what warrents the price tag of the Brabus, I think its just the badge.

The alloys are absolutely stunning though

At least with not going for the Brabus I've got a bit more choice now.
