Toyo Proxes T1-R v Goodyear F1 GSD3

Featured Replies

My T1-R's will shortly need replacing after covering 24000 miles  , my local dealer can replace them for around

I have the T1-R's on the Ibiza and the GSD3's on the Octavia. I chose the T1-R's for the Ibiza because they were cheaper than the GSD3's, if they'd have been the same price or the reverse as in your case I would go for the GSD3's.

Agreed Eddy, if the price was the same I would stick with the Toyo's but for

What size are your tyres?

Prices for my size 225x45x17 T1-R is

I fitted Eagle F1s last time round.

GREAT grip for 4000 miles - then nothing, VERY poor after that.

Great tyres, if you don't mind changing em more often than not.

That comes to £92.82 each plus some form of delivery and/or fitting unless they supply to local fitters. Like yours they are 225/45/17

The £85 for the GSD's is inclusive of VAT and Fitting :) as is the £105 for theToyo's .

Toyos for me too, got mine from mytyres.com for about £80 per corner inc vat and delivery. i have a mate in the trade so he fitted them for a drink...

the F1's are better in the dry than the T1-R's but in anything like wet conditions i dont rate them as highly. once down to about 3mm of tread they were shocking.

MSW have branches in different locations... Manchester, Leeds and other loc..

The price is fully fitted at the branch.. + Leeds branch are very carefull when fitting to alloys..

Depends how far away you are.....

Mytyres might be cheaper.. but you will have to get them fitted...

I have no experience of GSD3... But others on here have recommended them..

I don't think they last long though....

My T1-R are lasting nearly double the mileage of the T1-S I had previously...

cheers

On another note does 225/45/17 make much differance to handling/grip compared

to 205/50/17 std size on vrs??

Not noted much differece in handling but 225/45's tend to be cheaper than 205/50's

eg at black circles Toyo T1-R's 225/45's are £84.67 whereas 205/50's are £126.01

Dazz, unfortunately as I live in the wilds of the SW, fuel cost driving to a particular fitter comes into the equation also. I think Leeds may be a bit far :)

thats a big differance in price which means to changed i would have too change all 4 even though still got over 5mm on T1R on the front,

mmmm worth a little think

Toyo's def for me!

That's interesting, I assumed my Mondeo was the only car in the world that ran 205/50/17's as the prices of replacement ones were so expensive! Might move up to 225/45/17's when I replace them then :D

i changed the fronts on my from std to 225 /45 r17 and left the rears (205 /50 r17) until they needed changing then swapped them to match the toyo's on the front.

legally your ok to run different size tyres on a car as long as the larger tyres are on the rear wheels, when compared there was so little difference in the 225 40's to the 205 50's we decided to just do the above.
