They're only golden mate, not crystal.

Did it make any unusual noises when you lost power? Is it now black smoking when it wasn't? Can you get the fault codes read? (see the VCDS forum for an owner near you)

Much appreciated

@john999boy - Sorry for doing this, but can anyone post in the $model level, or only in the lower $model/$mark subfora? Like in this case I know I can't post in "Fabia owners", but could create a new post in the "Fabia 1" forum.

Sounds like the ECU is sensing overboost and going in to limp home mode. You need codes.

The model header is just to hold the relevant sub models so posting there isn't allowed as it would lead to too much confusion!

There should be a big message that pops up when creating a new thread that says 'SCAN FOR CODES' Otherwise its like trying to guess what colour pants I have on.

Lot's of people have had this problem before, the fix is never something simple you can do in the works car park on your tea break, if that's what you mean.

I.ll be going to a garage at some point today to get codes the car runs fine untill you go past 2500 rpm then limps till you switch the engine off and back on

Hence why my initial reply reads "They're only golden, not crystal".

See, this now suggests that your limp mode is related in some way to overboost. I don't know how or why, but I've still got a working theory which I didn't have before.

This text is from the link I posted for you:

"When found in the 1.9 L TDI-PD (BLS):
Check vacuum supply from the vacuum reservoir located in the valve cover for leaks. Using a vacuum gauge, wiggle the valve cover and hose connections to check for a leak."

Your garage guys are morons.

OK, I'm not going to be able to help you, find an independent VW or diesel specialist and tell them you have an overboost issue. You need a proper garage.
