Best disk and pads for 1.6tdi

Featured Replies

Hello,

So my disks and pads need replacing and I was just wondering whats the best replacement I can get to enhance the braking efficiency of my car?

I have had a remap so the power is slightly more and therefore I want to make sure my brakes are up to punch. I intend to do some track days next year so bare that in mind.

Is there some performance disks and pads or would I need to go the 312mm upgrade route?

Any advice would be great! Thanks.

I've had my 1.6TDi Monte on track 3 times now at knockhill mapped to 150bhp and to be honest the standard pads were fine. Only time i ever got fade was braking for scotsman as its not long after duffus so they didnt have time to cool properly. Brake fluid has been upgraded which could have made the difference though.

This is very good to know. Are you running any special disks and pads ie yellow, green, red EBC pads etc or just OEM ones like Bosh, brembo etc etc.

Also what what would an upgraded brake fluid do to increase braking performance (I am not great with brakes)

Just the oem ones. Upgraded brake fluid would raise the boiling point.

the issue I have is oil temp and oil coolers aren’t easy to fit to these engines.

Ah cool, I will get nice OEM disks and pads and upgrade the fluid.

There is limited room in these engine bays... I thought the gap between the lower grill and the rad / intercooler was enough space but I am no mech

There is room it’s just you need to start fitting sandwich plates and that to them.

Still he goes well

Something for the future wants mod list.

Nice video car handles well and smooth too!! I also see you have traction control etc, the original purchaser of my Elegance didnt spec such options which is going to make track days fun!!

Yeah my car was spec’d With traction control and esp traction control can be turned off esp can’t :crying:

Best uprate for brakes is to properly service the calipers - something sadly lacking in the Skoda service schedule!
