wheres the European stouts?

i have a Guinness (draught) if im out, at home i like Waggle Dance or Spitfire, maybe Bombadier, Bishops finger....

if you feel brave try MT&E brew - Owd Roger, dont spill it or you will need a new floor

Owd Roger review

Lethal. Pours as dark as expected. Complex aromas of treacle, oats and even some tar. Tastes of molasses and oats again. Everything I’d expect of something labelled a ’country ale’, just a shame that having one than two over a normal session would be headache-fodder!

Hercule - 9% Belgiun stout - I get a crate every year. After drinking that you would never bother with Guinness again

I used to like those English beers, but Belgium ones just make English taste like they are watered down

Try this lot

No concern about the speed or power of the 1.6 at all. Pulled our little caravan all over the alps.

Acceleration? Can't say I accelerate more in the 2.0 than the 1.6. I could, of course, but don't. I'd rather save the fuel money for other things. Wouldn't be overtaking with the caravan anyway.

Concerned about inconveniencing other drivers? Yep, I had that one big time when I first got the caravan with the 1.6. With some good planning I found it wasn't the issue I expected. In 3 years (3 months touring) our record was a massive queue of cars to the total of ..............5. The key is to choose the route and time of travel. All our trips start in the UK (Home to Dover) in the dead of night. In Europe the roads are far less crowded and when you pick the right route you rarely see traffic. We often travel with the caravan at night anyway, kip up in car parks in the day; till we get to where we're going, which means with 2 people taking it in turns you can get virtually anywhere in 3 days.

One of the reasons we chose these cars is the amazing adaptive front xenon lighting. You don't feel you are driving at night, just lit up like day - and no one else about. You should see those lights taking the curves in the Alps at night!

Take a caravan out with any vehicle in daylight in the UK, keep to the legal caravan speed limit and you will have a bigger queue than we have ever had.

Maybe or maybe not you misunderstood my post. For sure I wasn't trying to criticise. I guess I'm just trying to say I feel more comfortable with the reserve my 2.0 170 has with our fairly large 'van. It's an honest question, if you felt a bit underpowered then choose the 2.0, if not then why change? It comes from a time when I towed with a 1.6 petrol many years ago and sometimes felt the outfit wasn't up to it.

The 170 is so much easier to tow with as the usable torque band is much wider.  The 1.6 is ok but if it was me there is no contest. Shop around for fitted towbars most dealers get specialists to fit them anyway. Its no big deal anymore to fit the wiring and do the coding.
