Apart from the above mechanical issue, which should be rare enough occurrence, you have to ask "why?" as well.

Vauxhall did this with the Calibra and Cavilier 4x4 Turbo as the gearbox couldn't take the power in first gear....

Tricky on a non-auto-box I'd imagine though to achieve it. You'd pretty much end up with something that was linked into the drive-by-wire to pretend you're not flooring the accelerator I suppose' date=' that way it wouldnt impact the ECU.

The autobox you're referring to, would that be the DSG one? I'm guessing that if it is & it's showing the gear on a display it should be possible to do some magic in the ECU [/quote']
