Split Milk = smell

Featured Replies

Hi all, after advice, the Mrs left her milk container in the storage compartment between the front seats only to give me the 'that's funny' look when she next took out the container it was empty. Needless to say I wasn't impressed and the lining was saturated. I've pulled it out and there was a puddle underneath. Have soaked it up and sprayed both the plastic and the lining with autogylm interior shampoo. The smell is getting worse and I have left the lining out the car a couple of days completely to check if it is that or not. There is a hole in the plastic under the lining and I have no doubt milk has gone down there.

In short, anyone know what is underneath the storage unit between the front seats? I am trying to think if I can get any baking powder (soaks up bacteria apparent) or cleaner down there without ruining anything?

Thanks in advance

Get a proper Neutraliser for spilt milk.   Google it!

Spilt Milk is terrible stuff over time, so deal with it properly.

White vinegar and water mixed 50:50.  Spray on and leave to sit on the surface before wiping with a clean damp cloth.    The vinegar smell will dissipate after a day or so, so don't worry about that when you're applying it.

Remove as much trim as you can and give the area a good clean. If there's anything left to linger then the car will continue to get much, much worse.  Luckily it's not Summer!

Once you're satisfied you've cleaned it all then you could use charcoal or even coffee grounds to help absorb any lingering odor.

I believe they make enzyme cleaners for this.

And stop your crying!

Very glad it's not summer....

Thanks for all the tips.

Just hoping there's nothing important under there when I saturate it
