I have never had a problem with s/s but I dont like it for other reasons so I stopped using it. Both my DSG S3 appear to work exactly as outlined in the driver manual. I would say that some of the problems reported here are faults. The only other thing I can think is that  it is being caused by the braking force applied when coming to a stand; not criticising driving styles just speculating about the very real problem reported. It is just another reason why s/s is an unhelpful system that is merely provided to keep the predicted emissions levels lower--and that is a whole other story  :wondering:

Vehicles with manual transmission
The engine is automatically switched off as soon as the vehicle comes to a halt, the shift lever is moved into neutral and the clutch pedal is released.

Vehicles with automatic transmission
The engine is automatically switched off as soon as the vehicle comes to a halt and the brake pedal is operated.  No automatic engine shut-down takes place when a vehicle with automatic transmission is moving at low speed (e.g. during a traffic jam) and remains stationary after pressing the brake pedal lightly. Automatic engine shut-down
takes place if you press the brake pedal down with more force

Software issue perhaps?

I can honestly say I've never had an issue with my Sportline.  It does sound pretty poor though.

It due a service next week and I'll check with them again but last time it didn't show a fault and there was no software update available.

So I've just had an update from the dealer, they estimate another two weeks until my car is sorted, that will make it 5 weeks in the garage in total.

Apparently they haven't even touched it yet, lots of information going back and forward between them and Skoda. 3 weeks worth of paper work.... They have only just ordered the parts. A new gearbox is coming from the factory.

I've swapped the Golf GTI out for an Audi A4 S Line 150 diesel auto. The Audi is very basic compared to my Superb, but it's more economical, better interior, quieter and much more comfortable than the awful Golf.

Car goes back to the dealer this week. This time its due its oil change service but to also check the often jerky/snatchy DSG as one dealer reports 'no problem' yet managed to diagnose another fault which 10 days later disappeared.

Also to re-attach the sunroof and roof lining as i feel in my car its all about to fall onto my head when driving it rattles and creaks so much.

I will get the stop start checked again as today with stop start active when parking the s/s cuts the engine way to quickly. In that when i have parked the s/s cuts the engine i open the door and the maxidot reports that i should turn off the ignition. Therefore i press KESSY button and the engine starts!

If the s/s is active and the handbrake is on and drivers door open why restart the engine. Especially as my foot is not 'on' the footbrake!.

I really wish you'd sell it.

Or have the warranty provider which is Skoda UK arrange to have competent factory trained technicians have the vehicle 'Fit for purpose' and of merchantable quality. and if they can not Skoda UK will have to arrange with the Supplying Dealership to do a Buy Back,. or exchange for a non faulty vehicle.

'Simply Clever'.  Do not allow the pith to be taken.

That is being considered but im more in line to think i have been sold something with faults since day 1 thus consumer rights are more relevant.

Doh, i was forgetting a TSI & not TDI.

So get them to get on with it behaving as designed to by VW Group Highly Trained Engineers and Designers,

or get someone in that can.

My car still isn't sorted....

Last update I was told the part would arrive on the slowest boat from Germany on 13th January. 4th November it broke down.

The only Skoda's I've driven with s/s (not the Superb) only seem to shut down when the car has stopped completely, the gear is in neutral and the clutch fully released.

A friends Bmw M3 auto is constantly shutting down as he's almost at a roundabout or a turn off and immediately restarting, sounds painful and unnatural to me.

Stop start is no good for engine life and battery life is vastly reduced. Another friends Mercedes E class needed a new auxiliary battery just after 3 yr warranty expired. £200 plus fitting!

Not really. The may say that in the car's manual but in practice it's very inconsistent.

I agree, my car stops the engine when I am moving slowly before turning into my driveway.

Finally got my car back about an hour ago! 110 days without it.

Just waiting on compensation offer from both Skoda and VW leasing.

Glad to have it back!

What?!

One. Hundred. And. Ten. Days. Utterly, utterly bonkers.

Would have been cheaper for them and quicker for you if they’d just given you a new car.

Tell me about it. The whole experience has been rotten, unfortunately I won't be loyal to VW after the lease is up but going to try enjoy the car for the remainder, hopefully I'll be well looked after and the rest of the term will go without anymore set backs.

Customer service has been absolutely appalling from all three parties involved.

They deserve a proper financial caning for this. Of the road for 110 days ‘because we can’t get the part, sir’. And we’re one of the biggest car companies in the world.

And one of the most stupendously incompetent.
