My car was at Johnson's skoda for warranty work. Some minor checks some more serious.

Dsg checked as it jerks and generally is nowhere near as smooth as my prior dsg. They reported a fault with an oil valve yet has not been fixed as they need more equipment. They didnt sound sure about the fault or the equipment but i have to go back in 2 weeks time to get the 'fix' done. Something just doesnt sound right.

Anyone heard of the fault?

I’m not surprised by this at all.

Too many Dealers don’t seem to have the right kit, or knowledge to support their customers cars now, or Škoda have trouble supplying the right spares fast enough.  I have seen too many threads in here about issues at one end of the support chain or the other.   It definitely doesn’t bode well for their future sales if it keeps up.

I had three Octy 1s before the S3 with no trouble at all with getting jiggles or problems fixed whereas now anything remotely technical stumps them.  I have decided not to buy any further into a Škoda future when the current deal on this car ends.

Its makes sense.

All that was successfully completed by johnsons skoda whilst my car was in their care for 2 days was a car wash.

I requested the following to be checked:

1. Dsg jerking gear shifts

2. Sunroof creaks and rattles

3. Stop start cuts in before car has stopped.

4. Centre console creaking

5. Check corrosion on rear discs

6. Check general brake noise.

I was informed there is a fault. An oil valve is faulty. I asked if this was a fault on the gearbox and advised yes. Therefore i asked is it a part that is needed. I was advised the dealer needs equipment in order to test more and/or repair (they were non committal). So the car is going back in to said dealer within 2 weeks.

They attempted a fix on the sunroof - it still rattles though creakes a little less. I am informed the stop start is normal and the brakes are all ok which is at least reassuring.

I guess the creaky centre console was not worth looking at!.

In my opinion a dismal attempt. The dsg issue/fault is vague. Maybe as its oil related i should not drive it? No advice offered.

Are my standards to high? Should i drive it?

Start-stop is very aggressive and unrefined. They can only disable it for you completely (you can do that as well via VCDS by changing voltage settings they say). It's just **** software for bull**** mileage metrics and emissions control.

I agree with the stop start comment. I cannot drive with it on this car yet my dsg octavia the stop start was less agressive and unrefined. Repeatability something skoda do not achieve.

From my stand point the stop start causes a loss of vehicle control when slowing down. Its wrong. The system is flawed. The mechanic told me to brake more lightly...sound advice. About a useful as saying only wear a seat belt if you think you will crash.

Totally agree about the S/S.  It is so bad on the SIII that I have to disable it every time I start the car otherwise it would only be a matter of time before I end up failing to control the car at a junction or at a pedestrian crossing due to a lack of brakes/steering (which I've come very close to already).  Its ironic that with all the safety systems we have on the cars, the inclusion of the S/S system actually creates a potential hazard.

Crikey, that s/s issues sounds bad.  Must be DSG specific as I've never experienced anything like that with this or my previous manual VAG cars with s/s

Its not fit for purpose.

To allow a system to disable car controls just before the car stops is dangerous.

Start stop helps achieve lower emissions to pass legislation but in this situation at the expense of driver and occupant safety.

Mine went 15 miles today for the first time in the 10 days since the gearbox destroyed itself so I'm happy. Here's hoping it's back soon. Got an OBD11 and some anti rattle tape waiting for it on its return home.

Great news but im thinking you will need a lot of anti rattle tape!

Whats was wrong with the gearbox?

?

Which engine & DSG and how old, how many miles done?

1400 miles and turned into a bag of spanners, lost all drive, warning lights galore. Had to come home to Warrington from Cornwall on the back of a wagon.

I'm rattle mad, even this Golf rattles. I'll sort them.

Edit 3 weeks old, DSG, 150 BHP Diesel

?

Still no idea what engine or what dsg is being talked about on either car in this thread.

Sorry @Headinawayoffski you were too quick :) I've edited my previous post

Cheers.

6 Speed wet clutch.  Well that is not usually a problem box, but then none are 100% reliable, it would not be from the VW Group if they were.

Mine is MY18 so has 7 speed gearbox.

The service from Skoda Assistance was faultless, just looking forward to getting it back as issues aside I'm happy with the car.

So they should be, and apologetic as well, and Skoda CZ should think on, as should Skoda UK.

The issue really is that there is an issue and a pretty major one.

All the best with it.

We can expect that others having the issue will be told, 'never heard of that', except when told 'they all do that'.

+1.

disabling the start-stop is now part of my start up procedure.

its not only dangerous, the damage (when it cuts out then has to restart almost immediately cause it got to eager before the car actually stopped!!!) its doing to the car is also bad!

my wife's mazda3 has start-stop, and with that the start-stop is brilliant.  u can determine if it kicks in by the amount of brake pedal pressure u hold.

with the superb, the amount of brake pedal pressure makes no ****in difference.  it seems speed based, i.e. ur doing less than 5 km/h = quick kill the engine before the car completely stops!!

mine too, the answer from Škoda on 55 second

That's brave. Driving down a cobbled street in a S3 Superb. I would not chance it.

Im pretty sure the sunroof would totally rattle free and land on my head.

According to information received from Skoda factory they evaluate this rattle as normal phenomenon:)  and they will do nothing to solve this problem. One of the solution which is even more possible than Skoda factory action is like that all roads in Latvia, in Europe and in globe will be covered with asphalt:)

Skoda Media Team and comedy writers failing to mention that 'phenomenon',  up there with being a 'feature' .

Vorsprung Durch Tecknik for the parent company, years of advances in technology to be able to build in such a rattle.

I had S/S on my last Superb II, 170tdi manual.  It was a much better system with none of the over enthusiasm of the current model however, I have driven a manual SIII and I found the same issue with the engine cutting out too soon.  I haven't driven the newer 7 speed wet clutch with the 150tdi yet (mine is the 6 speed wet clutch) so don't know if that makes any difference.

Software issue perhaps?

I can honestly say I've never had an issue with my Sportline.  It does sound pretty poor though.
