Trading in a dpf delete octavia

Featured Replies

I am looking to trade in my beloved Octavia elegance. (For a people carrier, cheers kids) I've had the egr and dpf removed as well as a 180bhp tune.  (As a remedy for a failed egr post emissiins retune) better performance economy and futureproofed from the same problems.

Has anyone had any experience / sucess trading it in. or do you think it would be better selling it on here (for example)

See what Dealers / salespeople offer you as a trade in.

Tell them the same as they tell you about a car you are buying, which is nothing much, no idea of the history, let them road test it and inspect.

Skoda Main Dealerships sell TDI's and never mention there were EGR failings, DPF issues, Defeat Devices fitted and The Fix carried out unless a customer asks and then they have never heard of any issues anyplace.

Say nothing.

Only lawful thing you have to say is whether it was written off.

However I think if selling privately I'd actually list it, as I see it as a plus

Thanks to you both. As you say I see the upgrades a plus points so it might me worth selling to like minded folk.

Private will always yeild at least £1000 to £1500 more than trading

What's age and mileage?

Private sells to knowledgeable buyers are lovely, sold as seen, cash in hand, no come backs, until some expert mates says, they sold you a pup,

so buyer beware, explain the car and be sure they understand what you are selling them.

As to the Trading in,

?

What are you buying and is it something as scarce as hens teeth, selling like hot cakes you they are desperate to shift them,

like Un-registered VW Group Diesels before April 2018, or even before the new year.?

Are they that desperate for a sale they will pay a bit more than your car is worth,

& then walk away and when they are still desperate they drop the 'To change' cost.

Lofty79 off the top of my head its got about 82,000 miles on it and its a 62 plate. I had the factory bluetooth fitted to the bolero unit too so I think thats a plus as well. the only thing going against it is that a couple of the alloys are scuffed from kerbing. Aw maan the more I think about it the less I want to sell my car. And there is no 7 seater touran skoda equivalent either. The touran is an ugly van.

Sounds like your as well to keep it.

You will have to go through all the mapping egr and dpf deleting which sounds like a grands worth of work.

Is the Seat Alhambra / VW Sharan no use?

  • Author

I liked the Alhambra but the boss / wife thinks the Grand Cmax (wash my mouth out) looks nicer. still working on her

No doubt they are much nicer to look at, all together a nicer vision.

But you drive & travel inside them which is quite important if the seat and luggage space matters, & if the sliding rear doors matter

both are very practical.

Not that much between them but if the looks are important then the Ford wins IMHO, but you need to see how the control suit in the front,

and how they drive.

She maybe needs to go on some road tests..

What does a dpf and egr removal map cost ? I'm tempted.

  • Author

I think I paid about £450 ish half of what it would have cost to have the egr replaced

Some folk get dpf delete done and egr in mapping and Then smash out the insides of the dpf so a new pipe doesn't need to be made.
