No handbook. Information please.

Featured Replies

Collected my Octavia a couple of days ago but there wasn't a handbook with it.  The dealer is ordering one for me but it'll be a couple of weeks so there's a few things that I don't know and would be grateful if anyone can provide the info until I get the handbook.  It's a 2017 (66 plate) 1.6 TDI SE L.  I don't know what brand/grade of engine oil to use.  Like all cars I've had, I like to keep a litre handy for topping up.  Also, what type/brand of antifreeze/coolant will it need.  It's up to the correct level just now but again I'd like to have some for topping up.  The stuff that's in is a pinkish colour.  I have a bottle of top up coolant that I used on my last car, a 2013 Mk3 Focus.  That was also a pinkish colour so wondering if that would be ok to use.  Lastly, what is the tyre pressures all round.  I know it's marked on the label on the fuel filler flap but it's in bars and I just want to know what it is in psi.  Thanks.

Oil is 5w30 that meets 504/507 spec. Castrol Edge seems to be the most popular but other choices are available that meets the above spec.

Coolant is G13 which can be bought as concentrate or ready made. I would only use genuine VW G13 personally, it's only about a tenner for a litre of concentrate.

You can view an electronic version of the handbook if you download the MySkoda app and fill in your car details.

For the psi just run the bar figure in a conversion calculator on the web. Everyone has different models with different size wheels/tyres so best to use what's on the flap door.

Many thanks for the quick reply.  I'll have a look for the electronic version and that should keep me going until I receive the handbook.  Cheers.

If it's a help, google skoda manuals and via skoda auto you can download PDFs of all the various manuals. If i remember rightly the coolant top up tank is labelled with the correct one, I think it is G13. I use one of the online converters for bar to psi, but I have got used to bar now.
