Dansan,

If from Motability it was ordered between you and the Motability Specialist in the Showroom was it not, all priced and specced up, signed for etc, and you had the password to make the payment, Motability bought it and paid for it.

If not what was agreed you wanted, then do not accept it, but then you should not have put in your password or driven it away.

If they have a VRS with the right wheels in the showroom or as a demonstrator why not ask them to swap them over? Worst they can say is no.

Yes they said no. Refused to acknowledge they had made any mistakes so not even an apology. Disgusting service. I’ve raised it with Motobility whether I get anywhere with them who knows.

Yes they pulled the trick of leaving a cover over the car and starting the paperwork. So I signed it off. This is the third car I’ve had from new and I’ve never had this done to me before.

There you go then,

you tell that to the Principal Dealer in writing, forward a copy to Motability Finance that own the car and you can have it exactly as you want with the wheels you want,

and the Motability Specialised Sales person can get some retraining because they took the pith.

The cars are well discounted but that is no loss to Dealerships.  The invoice price was signed by you showing what Motability paid.

Sorry to be contentious, but hardly an excuse for not checking the car thoroughly before you signed.  It may have been a sneaky trick but they now have the upper hand.

I’m not sure the dealer has pulled any tricks at all in this instance.

As per above, no excuse whatsoever for not checking the car for bumps, scrapes, correct specification etc.  Even when the cover was removed, the buyer should have had the problem resolved or a resolution put in place (in writing) prior to driving the car away otherwise it's seen as a sign of acceptance. Besides, why on earth would a dealership go to the lengths of masking a problem when the law states you have 28days to reject the car?

It's exactly the same story with the trim, the buyer didn't spot this when collecting the car. As far as I can see there is no mention in the specs that red trim is std equipement.

You may have had an arguement about the 'default' car because despite your alloys being a no-cost option, the price list does state the car comes with anthercite wheels as std. But I'm afraid you've lost any credibility by accusing the dealer of deliberate foul play.

Looking at this from the dealers point of view, I'm not sure what they've done wrong. They offered you a std car from stock which you accepted, you bought it and drove it away. It's up to the buyer to make sure the spec was to their satisfaction.

Scot5,

it is a rather different procedure from buying a car or a lease when Motability are buying it and leasing it to you.

The Dealership employee has responsibilities as do the person leasing, as the money is transferred as they have the vehicle handed over.

I go inspect the car prior to the First Registration & PDI, and get the Owners Manual.

Then inspect closely before typing in the PIN.

I read what i am signing as well, and get the copies.

I’ve left it with Motobility to see if they can resolve it. On reflection it’s fine as it is an apology for ballsing my order up would suffice. If the dealer would have just been honest and said it’s not what we ordered I’ve made a mistake I could of sorted it there and then and been more than happy s He even lied to me and said silver alloys were standard do you think that is acceptable? As far as I’m concerned I’ll never deal with them again.

The dealer is at fault.

They confirmed it was a standard car.

It isn't, it has an unwanted option fitted to it, the fact it's a no-cost option is irrelevant.

To fix this issue is going to be a pain for the dealer, their tact here is to play hard ball and hope you'll go away, then they don't have to do anything. If this is something that really bothers you then dig in and push hard for a satisfactory resolution.

You don't appear to be getting anywhere with the dealer, contact Skoda UK directly and ask them to open a case. They'll talk with their franchised dealer on your behalf, which can quite often result in a result that suits all parties...

I'm biased but anthracite and black alloys are bit last year now. Silver suits Race Blue the best...
