Anyone replaced a DPF yet ?

Featured Replies

Evening all.

Wondered if anyone has had to replace their DPF yet ?

If so - did you use new genuine, new aftermarket, or used part? And cost ?

Think mine's reaching the end of its life, so am weighing up my options.

Cheers :)

(Just for clarity, this is NOT related to the emissions fix as mine has never been touched)

Hopefully replacing mine on Saturday. The new one will be a Volvo unit; it comes attached to an XC60.

Seriously though, my current one has 76,000 on it, never had a DPF light on, regens are not very frequent, it has been a perfectly unnoticed part of the car.  Always used mid-SAPS oil (507 00), tried to use decent diesel (but not premium stuff).  Also not had the NOx fix; I suspect when it goes for P/X this may change quickly.

Mine's regenning more and more frequently (typically less than 100 miles between each), taking longer to do so each time, and I had the first DPF warning light last week. It's gradually been smoking (diesel smoke) more and more during regen too.

Current mileage 97k.

I understand there are DPF cleaning specialists now which gives another option I guess.

Might be worth taking a closer look at the DPF's reported performance parameters etc.

I have the paid for version of the  VAG DPF app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=Daaren+Fonloil) and find it works well with a generic/cheap Bluetooth OBDII dongle.

97k seems very early for a DPF failure on a CR engine.

I'd be tempted to check the oil ash volume using VCDS, this is the reside that can't be burnt off which will eventually block the DPF.

133k miles on mine, and no sign of it needing replacement just yet.
