FL VRS 245 mpg vs Diesel VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

What sort of figures are people getting out of the 245 version?  Likewise for the diesel.

For the diesel and normal driving I'm averaging between 40-44mpg, that's with a once weekly motorway jaunt of about 10miles.

On long journeys I've hit 63mpg.

245 about 30mpg overall average for me, mostly country roads. I've seen 35+ when driving on motorways with variable speed limits.

If you want good fuel economy get a diesel. If you’re not arsed get a petrol. Easy ;)

How many miles do you do OP? The petrol isn't terrible on fuel, so unless you do a huge amount of miles I'd be going for a 245.

4x4 vRS TDI, about 35mpg long term. (25k miles over 18 months.) Mostly shortish trips but on A & B roads due to our location. No dual carriageway within 35 miles of here.

As above, get the 245 unless you do 20k+ miles a year.

Or just get it anyway, because...well just because. Life's too short not to, I needed 4x4 so hadn't any choice really.

Steady 48MPG from my diesel DSG but I’m a 25kpa miles user so it didn’t make sense to go petrol in a daily. If it’s under 15k I would have searched petrol only.

I've been getting 28 - 30 mpg driving to & from work this week, driving with it in Normal mode. On a long motorway drive last weekend I was getting 38 mpg with it in comfort mode.

I had the same dilemma, currently have a Superb diesel and do around 20k miles a year and have a vrs 245 on order. My thought was that my fuel costs will probably double for the year but petrols are so much nicer to drive and as some else said, life's too short to worry about it.

I don't think your fuel costs will double. I do about 16k a year and have averaged 38mpg calculated since I bought my VRS. You'd need to see about 65mpg average in the Diesel to halve the fuel cost Vs petrol. My reckoning is that the diesel is about 10-12mpg better like for like.

That's good to hear that you're getting 38 mpg, I thought it might be nearer 30 mpg and was working on that figure as I average around 60 mpg in the Superb, thanks.
