Massive MPG

Featured Replies

There is something wrong with my car, it's gone all diesel on me.

Yesterday evening I filled the car up with Optimax, not right till over flowing but untill the pump cut out. Today on the way home I noticed that I was getting 51.8 MPG. I had covered 138 miles, the computer told me I had 435 miles left in the tank and the needle on the fuel gauge was still over 3/4 full.

I got out of the RS when I got home and looked around the car, it was still red, same wheels, yep defo my car so what could be up.

The last thing I can remember was that I was at IP over the weekend.

Been playing with some more shiny bits then? :D

What, ala Beasty!!

They've fitted a 4X4 fuel tank for you and the larger capacity is fooling the computer readout? :rubchin:

Or have they detuned the engine to 150bhp for you? :rubchin: :rubchin:

I'm with DGW

Perhaps you drove like a saint for a change.

Got a smaller turbo?

Well the turbo in the avatar is the same as the one in the car.

Perhaps IP inflated your tyres to 100PSI and removed the standard rear wing? :)

Did the engine start going "nack nack nack nack nack nack nack nack" ? ;)

In the words of Mil - its taka taka taka...

Noticed any black smoke from the exhaust? (thats for you Des, we all know J's car smokes like a *******)

Oh, come on - the computer always flatters you during your first hundred miles or so, them goes all paranoid over the last 100. Keep driving on that tank and you'll see what I mean....

Just don't let Des pass him or he will incinerate him on the overun.

Spawn of "The Beasty" should be fun to be in:D

51.8mpg on a standard octavia  Or have you fitted a new Air freshner?

The trip computer doesn't take into consideration those bigger fuel jets so read out.

PLus of course, the turbo doesn't cut in until around 4k so at a cruise on m-way your not using it. ;)

New record today, 53.4 MPG.

262 miles covered, still more than half a tank. Mind you I never went over 80 on the Mway.

Turned the wick up a bit today. now running 1.7bar   ......just the one blast honest. Must be that new Air Freshener.

PS The IP Beasty Boys are coming, appearing at a rolling road day or meet near you soon

Could I please have my concrete drive block-paved as the prize for the right answer?
