Fabia screenwash container cap

Featured Replies

I have a 2013 Fabia estate. The screenwash container cap sometimes comes off and hangs loose.  I have never found it to be a good fit. I know there is a filter so muck cant get in and stop the washers working and the cap cant actually get lost because it is secured but it is very annoying. I did wonder about using tape and I think that would work but I would have to take the tape off each time to top up of course. I know others have experienced this. Is there anything I can do apart from using tape? I have had lots of different makes of cars and this is a "first" for me. What do think?

I think that this is down to a VW Group supplier issue with either the cap or the washer bottle, my daughter's old 2002 Ibiza was like that, it was okay for me as I managed to get it to fit on eventually, but not for her, maybe buy a new cap from Skoda as doing nothing will not work.

Edit:- I suspect that the cap material has changed or at least caps coming from certain suppliers, when these caps were slightly "softer", they would deform and allow easy secure fitting. All my current cars are slightly like that when compared with what my wife's 2002 Polo was like or my 2000 Passat was like, not handy at all.

I find it needs just pushing on "Properly" And then stays secure... I might be lucky but it does stay on if fitted properly.

It needs to be correctly aligned and a good firm push down, it will click on positively.

Two thumbs , one on hinge end other on tab end.

They are a very tight fit.  Needs a good hard shove when you will hear it click into place.  Much worse in cold weather when the plastic hardens .
