FMIC Pipework and foglight

Featured Replies

Bought a second hand FMIC and pipework seeing as my old one is full of bits of turbo so may aswell upgrade but I’ve come across an issue. Upon reinstalling the bumper the fog light hits against the upper boost pipe meaning I have to remove the fog light. Is this normal? Guessing there isn’t a way round it? still need to get jubilee clips and fasten all the pipes together yet

Glad to see I'm not the only one who repairs cars using only a large hammer and a can of WD40 :D

Haha probably should of moved them for the photo:dull:

It looks like it might be possible to remove the bumper iron, and move the intercooler up so that the bumper will fit back on with the foglight in place, you can then cut the bumper iron to clear the intercooler and refit it all.

The FMIC is too wide to fit behind the crash bar hence fitting underneath, the crash bar come with the FMIC modified so the FMIC bolts straight to it

In that case your only option is to modify the upper boost pipe route so it clears the fog light.

I was thinking that but doesn’t seem much room for modification

Congrats, you've answered your own question.

Hence why I’m asking if someone has had the same issue and they have found a way around it by modifying the fog surround etc with pics so I don’t go hell for leather against the bumper

You will just have to drive around with no bumper lol. Can you alter the angle the pipes enter the turbo to push them away from the bumper?

I’ve found a way, I removed the fog light and chopped off the housing for it which was fouling on the boost the boost pipe,  I tried clipping the cover back on however that failed, chopped some away and now it clips on perfectly hiding the hole in the bumper minus the fog light itself. Looks okay! When bumper is back on I’ll post a photo. Not ideal but it does the job

James,

I was looking at this option, I was worried that one of the boost pipes would do exactly this. If it does not interfere with the fog light, the boost pipes you have installed look like they will interfere with the front tow attachment point (look for the hole with screw threads). Some tow vehicles will pick up the front two wheels of your car and the rear two will run along the road behind the tow pick up.

I went for new pipework for my existing OEM from SFS

Good point! I will have a look at that, worst case I’ll fit a tow strap or remove bumper and boost pipe if needs towing I always carry a socket set in the car for reasons like this, but that’s a very good point I neeed to address

Maybe a metal bend rather than the silicone?

I’ve changed how the piping is now, this is the current setup
