Front Splitter

Featured Replies

I have the Maxton front splitter to put on my VRS. For anyone who has fitted one already, can you tell me what you used i.e. Nuts and bolts (as provided), or just self tappers, tape etc.??

Did it require removing the front bumper?

Overall, easy or difficult to do?

Thanks

I didn't used any of their bolts. Just got another person to help align the splitter and make sure where it was going then drilled holes straight through splitter into bumper/lip then just fitted self tap screws x14 throughout. Seems solid!

How low low is you’re car? What springs or suspension you on?

Cheers man! Sounds like a much easier option than trying to fit nuts and bolts. Also, I watched a video where some guy caught the splitter on something and wrecked the bumper because of the nuts and bolts. He said a friend of his did similar but with self tappers and it just pulled out the screws and no real damage to bumper

if you use the bolts you need to remove the engine cowl on the bottom. i used self tappers it took longer putting it on the post lift, literally a 10 minute job all in.

Do you ever get any wheel arch rubbing on the rear when fully laden?

I have 15mm at the rear at the moment and because i do have a full set of people in the car some times i dont want to have the wheels rubbing but want to go for the 20mm.

Was going to ask the same question. I was thinking about 12mm front and 15mm rear

That’s what I have already. The front facing image is with the Spacers. The rear facing image is without.

No issues so far - It's usually only me or me, wife, baby in the car but the boot is fairly full :)

I think the rear could go wider but then maybe have issues. Will try and get proper photos this weekend once cleaned and diffuser on

Ah ok! See I’d worry about the tyre scrubbing if I have the car fully loaded. Which is inevitable with a baby on the way lol

Never getting down my road like that mate. Tooooo low

What are the roads at Derbyshire like? That clearance wouldn't be enough for a centipede.

Skoda turinis 18*7.5j and on spacers 15mm front and 20mm rear.

It's also on H and R 40mm springs to lower it.

How is the ride on them H and R springs mate? I want to lower my car but keep the stock 18s as I dont want to ruine the ride too much having speed bumps all over the place.

In my opinion - A huge improvement, handling is vastly improved without much comfort loss. Some people will say it's become too crashy but they're used to jelly suspension.

It's smoother with my winter 18s than my summer 19s :P

With the boot up like that, reminded me of the time I thought I saw an Escort Cosworth, only to get nearer and realise it was a Ghia with the boot up and bungee cables holding in IKEA boxes.
