Multiple failure lights/faults when turning a corner.

Featured Replies

Was turning a corner about an hour ago and got a Christmas tree like display of warning and failure lights. They were:

Error ABS/ electronic stabilization control (ESC)

Optical parking system failure

AFS bend lighting function fault

Tyre pressure monitoring inoperative

Start/Stop system not functional

Car drives fine, electrics all work etc, battery is good

I am thinking that all the systems affected require a steering angle sensor and/or level sensor to be working?

Does this make sense? I'll hit the dealer in the morning (car is still under a full Skoda warranty) but it good to get some Briskoda knowledge first....

I'd double check the battery terminals are tight first..

A VCDS scan is the next step :)

Battery terminals, fuses, all electrical items (other than the ones in my list above) are working as normal.

The only items that are faulting are those that I would believeneed to know the steering angle.

The ABS system is working for example - its only the ESC component that is not - it would need to know where the car is trying to steer before using the ABS system to correct. The front, side and rear PDC's tell me about obstructions - the car just wont park itself.

Will get the codes read of course - was just wondering if anyone had seen the same set of faults and new what the culprit would be.

For the moment, it just means I have a car that doesn't bend its lights and expects me to park and deal with skids myself. As I have often seen quoted on Briskoda..."First world probems.....!".

FIXED!

All the faults above were cleared by replacing the rear, right hand side ABS sensor.

Just for info, car is 3.5 years old with 27,500 miles only.

  • 6 years later...

Exactly the same thing just happened to me travelling home after going through a big puddle. I thought it might have been that.

Did skoda diagnose that problem for you?
