Test drive

Featured Replies

I've had test drive in Karoq  Edition 1.5 dsg and 1.5 sel I thought the ride on 19" was better than 18" some people where saying the opposite way round what do you think ? As I like the black trim on Edition tsi as diesel engines Edition don't get the trim strange? Just thought that the dealers would have noticed this but 3 I've been to haven't

?

Did you check what the Demonstrators tyre pressures were at on the car with 19's, they might have been just right.

Dealerships can turn out a car as they do at PDI's with 50psi in the tyres.

This has been going on for years, you can end up with a bad impression of a car on !8's compared to a car on 19's when they do things like that.

Journalists / Car reviewers are not often to be seen at a launch getting out a tyre pressure gauge and checking what they pick up from the Media team and drive off in.

But people pay attention to what they then write about the ride, handling etc.

No test drove  at different dealers no one round here has more than 3 Karoq in 1@ diesel [email protected] and [email protected] and sel are man and Edition dsg

We’re they all 2 wheel drive, the 4x4 has different rear suspension which has been reported as giving a better ride on 19’s.

You are right. My present car, a Sportage, had 50psi (transit pressure) in each tyre. Its obviously waayyyy  too much trouble for a dealership to let air out to the correct pressure as part of a PDI.

Yes 2 wheel drive as I don't want a diesel no 4x4 on tsi

Sorry, missed the Tsi bit.

I also test-drove the 1.5 TSI DSG Edition and 1.5 TSI DSG SE L models and I couldn't tell the difference between the rides. Different dealers as well. Both rides were more comfortable than the Ateca which I also drove. For 6 months I had set my heart on an Ateca with Beats Audio but when I finally drove it I was underwhelmed at how old-fashined the infotainment screen and dashboard looked compared to the Karoq. So I bought a Karoq!

Test drove 1.0 SEL today I think it's unpowered for SUV any one think the same

Just perfect for those that mainly drive around towns and cities in a SUV or any mid sized car and have no real need for speed or filling the car with adults, luggage etc and doing any more than the UK NSL.

They will at revenue weight go up a motorway incline fully loaded.

I've not managed to find a 1.0 version to try yet - so thanks for the feedback

I was considering a 1.0 as to be honest for me it's looking a bit expensive. Even with the SE tech model with a few extra's the price goes well north of £25k

Had just read this review before I saw your post - it would suggest that this new 1.0 TSi can be a great choice and shouldn't be ignored if petrol suits your needs :  Can Skoda storm the SUV market with a 1.0-litre engine?

Don't think I'll go bak to diesel - Yes the low down tourque was good and it was very driveable but with the modern petrols the low/mid tourque is much better than 16v na petrols of old and that power keeps building as the revs rise - long after the equivalent diesel has given up. Oh and the silence at tickover:biggrin:

However the problem I have with the price is that Skoda is no longer the bargain it was compared to other manufacturers

I'll see if I can find a 1.0 to try

Just thought I would make it clear for people 1.0 is ok for round town I just like a bit of power if needed so 1.5 TSI for me .Don't do enough miles diesel

I have driven the 1.0 TSI engine within an Octavia where performance was fine. With 148lb/ft of torque it has equivelent mid-range poke to a normally aspirated 2.0 engine, so never felt under-powered during normal driving. I was actually quite surprised, as this was the coutesy car I was given whilst my Octavia VRS TSI was being serviced.

However, if you desire a little bit of sportiness plus the added refinement of a 4th cylinder then the 1.5 will likely be a better option. It will cost a little more to purchase and insure.
