Adding front sensors

Featured Replies

Hi folks

just wanted to know if it’s possible to add front parking sensors to the Superb.

I absolutely love my car but it’s missing something that was standard on my last one.

Ive heard about places fitting extras like sensors and reverse cams, but what’s important is having it look like it’s standard and working with the cars park pilot system.

Be be keen to hear from anyone who’s had it done and costs etc..

cheers

It can be done so it looks and works like factory, but I don’t know any places in the UK the offers such services. If you’re planning holidays in Denmark, I have a few places I can recommend ;)

Hmmm.

There’s an idea. Can you get me some discount on Lego as well?

I could possibly point you in the right direction ;-)

Hi,

When I was researching used Superb purchase, few dealers in  Scotland and England said that they can fit front parking sensors but they will not show on infotainment system. Only audible noise will be available from separate speaker. That is one of the reason we went for new car with high discount like broker prices. I hope for you they were wrong.

That’s because they’re doing it wrong :)

Take a look at www.cartrends.dk and navigate to ‘Galleri’.

That is exactly to my front sensors work. The absence of the display is not a problem, unless one is deaf! Personally, I don't want to be looking at the display when reversing or moving forward into tight spots.

I am looking for Front Sensors.

Does anyone know this place?

Sorry, no - but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else does or how you get on if you take the plunge and get them done...

I just contacted this company as I work just round the corner and they fit the Skoda Retractable towbar so looking at the cost of one to be fitted.

Excellent, looking forward to more information. They are within striking distance.

They have a lot of very positive (genuine by the looks of it!) Facebook reviews. I'm very tempted.....

Had a reply, I was thinking around £300 but.....

Good morning

We could supply and fit Front OEM skoda optical parking sensors for £589+ vat

Once installed the sytem will work exacklly like factory fitted front and rear ops parking senors.

That's what I would have expected to be honest - I think the price for the Passat on their website was virtually the same.

I’m looking at a company called VAGTEC - mobile fitting and paint, as factory so interacts with Park Pilot, c£550

@Clarkey72 did you end up getting this done? I'm looking at getting it done too. If so, did they come and do it at your house, or did you take it to their workshop? Thanks.

Do you find it has made a difference day to day? I'm looking to get the same done to my Octavia.

I had it done by VAGTEC in the end (after a fashion - their customer service was fairly dire), but the technician who eventually came out was brilliant and did a fantastic job. Definitely worth having it done. You wouldn't know it wasn't factory-fitted. The superb has quite a long nose, and I know my wife appreciates the sensors!

+1 for this. Need to hunt out somewhere in Northern Ireland that does this. To be fair it's something I overlooked when I was pulling together my list of must haves. I now appreciate their necessity. The rear ones have stopped me hitting a couple of walls already!

Yes, the front and rear ops are brilliant, and the rvc just helps you get a bit closers etc, the extra wide angle mode on the high line is really useful for eeeking out of a space, I would not want to be without them now.

Hi plantpowered, I've just spoken to VAGTEC, guy seemed very clued up, are you happy with the sensors now fitted and in daily use, any issues with the on screen function / display ? Cheers Eo66

@Eo66 Yes, I'm very happy with them. You wouldn't know they weren't fitted in the factory. They work as you would expect with the on screen display, in conjunction with the rears. They also activate automatically when they sense that you're parking forwards into a space.

The sensors they use are the original factory parts, and in my case, they took a long time to be shipped over from Germany. During that time, I really struggled to get hold of Vagtec and they were very lax with their customer service, so be warned - you may need to chase them up several times.

My car is metallic dragon green, and they pre-painted the sensors in the workshop before they came out. As I said, the guy who fitted them was so knowledgeable and helpful, which somewhat made up for the poor service. Vagtec's bread and butter is doing retrofits for dealers on 2nd hand cars (dealers often like to upgrade cars with options to make them more appealing for resale) , so this probably explains their poor b2c customer service, as they're not used to dealing with the public so much. Hopefully service has improved since I had them done, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

One thing worth mentioning: make sure you declare them as a modification on your insurance, since they are obviously a modification to the factory spec. They were expensive, and in the event my car were written off, I'd like to know that they're covered too. My insurer, Aviva, has never charged me any extra for declaring them as a mod, which seems fairly obvious since they're a safety feature, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Good luck - keep us posted!

Brilliant, thanks for the reply.

Hoping to get this done in the next 4 weeks and I’ll keep you posted.

I'm looking to get this done in Northern Ireland. I'd also like to add the reversing camera, if anyone knows of anywhere over here? The front sensors are a must tbh.
