Ah. Same here.

They were spot on when I had my Fabia vRS back in 2004, but have gone down hill in my opinion, except the guys in the parts dept who are helpful.

Do you use them for servicing?  If so, what experiences have you had.  I was thinking of using them seeing as the local indy specialists have very hit and miss reputations.

  • Just got home from collecting the 280.    I really wasn’t expecting the car to feel so different. At most I was expecting the ‘stop’ and the ‘go’ to be sifgnicantly improved/better but I jus

  • I can't afford a romantic w'end away.  This 280 ain't buying itself    If she's 'lucky' a trip to the Midlands on collection day and maybe a Premier Inn brekkie.

No, haven't used them since I had my Fabia vRS.

I use VASSTECH in Thornaby (Teesside Ind Est), but only once so far. Customer service and pricing was very good.

Good to know. Thanks.

A bit of offtopic, but there is at least in my experience a different story here in Slovenia. I contacted two of Skoda dealers and both of them were prompt to respond to my every query, and both tried very hard to get me the price that I wanted (at first I wanted a car that was available right away, and had a larger discount, but one of the dealers noted that it was a MY17 and that ADBLUE system was missing, and it had the old Columbus,...), so I ordered a new car, selected the local dealer (that also gave me a better price), and they were informing me every step of the way. They promised the car would arrive in max two months, and it came in 4 weeks, so it had to wait at the dealer for a week so i could resolve all the bureaucracy. And at least for now, their after sales support is  also top notch.

Keeping my fingers crossed, that it stays this way.

@penguin17: Hope you get your car ASAP.

Holding cars back is all part of the dealer management plans. The last time it happened to us was with SWMBO Volvo. At the time Volvo had an on-line tracker and her car showed as 'delivered to dealer' some 3 weeks before the original order promise date. So excited call to dealer to be told 'no the computer lies' .

We went down to the dealers lot on that Sunday when they were closed and found, you guessed it, her car sitting in all its transport gubbins. We took dated photos and left it at that since she didn't really need the car urgently.

When we went to pick up the car we said nothing until I saw the PDI check sheet dated the day after we saw it on the lot. I then told the salesman we had seen the car two weeks previously an showed him the photos but he was adamant it wasnt her car, we were mistaken.

His face when I showed him the PDI sheet will stay in my memory forever :biggrin:

It was the timing of the sale that defined when we could have it and to be fair that was exactly the date agreed at the time of order but why not be transparent???

My 'normal' Sportline built in Jan and collected 5th March has a 9.2 screen.  I would have thought that you should receive the spec as it was when you ordered, or some suitable recompense.

37mpg  over a 400 mile round trip to Bolton and back at sensible speeds on Monday. I'm quite pleased with that given its a 280. Off to Shropshire this weekend but with a 1250kg box trailer on the back so I suspect I won't be getting 37mpg this time!

It's surprising what mpg these engines can achieve isn't it?

I got my new sportline last week, albeit it's not the 280tsi, it's the 220tsi.

I took it to chester at weekend and it returned 41mpg. Well happy with that

Haha, I've never got within 10 mpg of that figure!

It was a work trip and I never rush :-) I think it helped that all bar about 10 miles were on motorway and there were miles and miles of those blasted 50mph roadworks.

I was pleasantly surprised but to be honest if I was really worried about economy I'd not have a 280 :-)

Ok, so we're back on track.   Car is now due to be on a transporter this coming Saturday, likely to be with the dealer on Monday.  I may be able to collect next Friday.

Here we go again.....

Dropping my Octavia in at the office tomorrow to go back to the lease company and then pick up my (not 280) Sportline on Saturday.

Similar figure on the trip back from Cambridge to West Cornwall and Long Term figure showing as 28.8 over last 2700 miles which includes a lot of short journeys .... like you I didn't buy car with economy in mind but am surprised at how good it actually is .  Still loving every single aspect of the motor !!  :)

Just in time to slide into the L&K demographic eh granddad?:D

Are you still on for getting it this week?

The dealer didn't even raise the transport request until Saturday just gone, despite telling me it was done a week ago and "should be at the dealers by Monday".  It's still sitting in Grimsby and likely will be for another week, possibly two.

I hope Chips Away Grimsby are good, they take their time so I'm expecting it to look like it wasn't pranged when it was offloaded.  Dealer is really starting to wee me off now!

You look too young to drive. I think I should look after your car until you’ve passed your test :tongueout:

No chance!

I’ve booked the day off work (again!), I have a 190 mile drive home from the dealers and I’m planning on taking the scenic route!

“Yes dear, the dynamic route guidance forced me into the Brecon Beacons, damn M5 roadworks!”

I haven’t been this excited about a car since my first one.  Sad I know but I can’t wait!

Yes! Embrace your inner child…

Good luck with the pickup today @penguin17.

Here is a quick picture of the one I picked up yesterday.
