Alarm system

Featured Replies

Hi troops, my good lady has been reading some daft article and now wants to know if I can activate (sound) the car alarm deliberately to use as a type of panic alarm. Anyone know of this? It's a 66 plate vrs TDI.

Doesn't it just sound the horn? So I guess you could just do that manually maybe?

In the US it’s popular enough to have a separate red button on the central locking fob/key that does that. So she may have been reading a US article. And I’ve seen it available on aftermarket systems as well. Not certain about activating it on an Octavia that hasn’t been specked with it from factory, but lads doin a lot of things here with VCDS so there may be some coding adaption that can activate the panic alarm option but you won’t have a panic button on your remote.

Like everything these days, it can be done one way or another, but how much time & money you want to give to it :-)

If not sounding the horn and putting on the Hazard lights,

just double lock the car with the remote then move about in the car, the alarm goes off.

I used to lock the car with passengers in by mistake and then wonder where the alarm going off was.

Now i do it for a joke......... sometimes.  Same person now a bit peeed off!

probably could as the program might already exist in the module...would just require VCDS to activate,...but as stated there is a specific key fob for it...

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Octavia has it's own seperate alarm that runs off it's own battery not the car battery.  Someone will come along now and prove me wrong :speechless::speechless:

On My Mondeo if you hold the lock button for several seconds the alarm would activate.

Does the Octavia not have the same function?

It took around 10s so not really practical in a quick panic situation but good for finding the car in a busy car park.

Our Volvo key has an extra button which you do the same thing, press for 2s & the alarm activâtes.

Hold the lock or unlock buttons for a few seconds the windows will go up or down.

I seem to recall the ability to discourage neds fingering my car. Probably was many years ago , with an aftermarket Cobra system.
