P0030 fault dispite replacing Lambda

Featured Replies

I had the P0030 fault and was told by the Skoda WS it was "probably" the pre-Lambda sensor. I changed it and reset the fault code (engine light off). It works fine until the next time I start the engine and light comes on. Car seems to run normally.

Anything else I need to check and/or replace?

Check engine light may indicate more problems: lambda I think they are 2, one after catalyst and one befor catalyst. Also this warning light can be on: spark plugs, bad fuel, bad missions etc.

Forgot to mention the fault code I still get (even after changing the Lambda pre-sensor) is P0030 but also P0130 after running a few days. I'm sure it's not bad fuel. Pretty sure it's not spark plugs as it's been regulary serviced according to the service book, plugs changed etc. Can it be the other Lambda, MAF, hole in some breather pipe somewhere?

Here is Sweden, not sure about uk, vehicles fail the "MOT" test if the engine light  is on.

coil pack on the way out.

P0300 indicates a problem with the heater circuit in the lambda sensor. P0130 indicates incorrect activity with the same sensor. As you have replaced the sensor I would be looking at the wiring from the ECU to the sensor. More info can be found here

^ This sounds like good advice.

If you can supply the year, and engine code of the car I can investigate the circuit diagrams and see if there any relevant fuses.

Your first post suggests that you replaced the sensor yourself? If so, where did you buy the replacement sensor from, and what part number was it?

I bought the sensor from ebay as the SKoda dealer was asking over £300. Part number is: Oxygen Sensor 06A906262BR. It's an aftermarket sensor not the OEM. I had doubts about the quality too. Year: 200804 Octavia CO AMB 1,6

I must admit that I'm struggling to understand whether you mean 2008 or 2004, and I don't see anything there that I recognise as an engine code.

Sorry it's 2008 April. VIN okay? TMBHA61Z682164689

No, I can't find engine code from VIN, someone else reading may be able to help though, or look on your options sticker in the boot/trunk.

Check fuse 21, but if that were blown I think you would have fault codes for the post-cat lambda sensor's heater circuit as well.

Sorry for late reply. I checked the fuse F21 and it was fine. I noticed that F15 was also for Lambda probe and there is a Glow plug system relay but there was no fuse in F15. Maybe it's not required in this model? I put one in anyway but it made no difference. I've also been getting the Coolant temp/level light coming on. It actually started coming on sporadically during October and I took it to Skoda who said they could not find any fault, the level was right and so was the sensor in the bottle. The coolant lamp has not been on for a couple of months but has now started again. But I digress, the engine light is still on.
