Door speaker/door improvement canton

Featured Replies

I got my Octavia a couple of weeks ago. I was excited since the car had a Canton sound system and i like listening to music when i drive.

The problem is that, compared to my Passat with dynaudio, the build quality of the doors are aweful! The sound gets distorted and the entire door vibrates with the bass making it impossible to listen to any music.

Has anyone here modified the doors with some kind of dampening material/mats. I did this many years ago (when i was young :D) to a couple of cars. Back then it was quite easy and the door panels was easy to work with.

Tips/tricks anyone? guide on how to remove the door panels?

There is a thread about sound deadening. you may have to go back a bit to find it though  it had some good info if I remember.

Sure there isn't something loose inside the door?

I can crank mine stereo up stupidly loud with some bass heavy songs and there isn't a single rattle other then things in the door pocket.

You will have distortions if signal is over-processed. My current setup is processing for All (not for driver or front), equalizers nearly flat, sub to the max.

I did played with the extreme setups first, but now find the sound much better when flat, distortion free even when listening to very loud.

So no issues with the sub cranked up ? - I had an active front end with a custom JL Audio 10" sub in my Mark II FL vRS - missing that in the Mark 3 so would like to add a bit more sub on the adjustment but don't want to damage it.

I have fitted a small 6" JL sub and enclosure, I used the wiring from tha Canton sub (which to be honest is ****e) to drive it.

If the standard of the sub is anything to go by then the door speakers are probably ****e quality as well, I've just never got around to looking.

@Gti Jazz Blue no issues, or at least it can't be heard of.

I did the whole custom install last time round - my life situation means that I probably will upgrade in a couple of years - so I'm just going to run as is for now I think. I do miss my old system though.
