HELP!!! Can Skoda Octavia MK2 jerk due to bad mounts?

Featured Replies

I own the Indian version of Skoda Octavia MK2 that is Skoda Laura. The car jerks in low RPM when its on stop signal and gas pedal is pressed - jerks from P to D and then move ahead normally and same jerks from P to R and move backwards normally. Can bad engine mount cause this problem? Its a 6 speed DSG auto gearbox car. Thanks!

Does it feel like the car is 'kangaroo'ing' ?? Almost like you're a learner driver who hasn't mastered the clutch?

My first thoughts are the mechatronic unit could be the issue.

Hi,

The car is automatic 6 speed DSG. The car slightly jerks or kind of jolts when I move the stick from Park to Drive or to Reverse in low RPMs. Rest of the drive is smooth after that initial thud or jerk. My mechanic told all the sensors are working fine and VCDC shows no errors. He told engine mount has went kaput and will need to be replaced. Just wanted to know in case bad mountings can cause this issue?

Mechatronics can be ruled out as there are no errors in VCDS. I am not sure. Thoughts?

@pavan_h - Anything can be "rough" due to worn engine and/or gearbox mounts. Can you "shunt" the top of the engine back and forwards by hand? If so, then yes worn mounts are possible. This would be more likely if the engine has ever leaked oil over the mount rubbers.

Yes, the engine does move back and forth. When I do a cold start, the sound from the hood is too bad.

You've already got a thread here so I'll lock this one to avoid confusion.
