New Skoda dealer in Harlow Essex

Featured Replies

Been rumoured for a while but today drove along Edinburgh Way, Templefields in Harlow Essex, and saw that The Laser Motor Company are now displaying Skoda Logos outside their garage.

So that saves me a fourty mile round trip to what was, my nearest dealer.

They are also Hyundai.

It is the site of the old Temple Garage (Honda) opposite Kwik-Fit.

NOW CLOSED AS OF FEBRUARY 2009

Denis,

Was rumoured months ago, and all the local Skoda dealers all said it would not happen, but came past there today and big green Skoda signs up over the entrance.

Will fill a gap left by Citygate when they left Harlow a few years ago. Other local ( ? ) ones are TransCity at Walthamstow and Welham Green Cars near Hatfield, so they will slot into their own area.

Just looked in the local free paper that comes around, and Laser Motor Company have a full page advert telling everyone that they are now the officially appointed Skoda dealer for this part of Essex.

LASER SKODA, have now given up the Skoda dealership, and moved from Harlow back to Sawbridgworth, and are now back into Hyundai and Proton.

Yeah, bloomin' annoying that another official Skoda dealer bites the dust near where I live (Welwyn Garden City.) Welham Green went a couple of years ago, MKG in Stevenage lost the ability to officially sell new Skodas a while back, then last year lost the ability to do warranty work too. Now Laser has gone. That leaves me with Palmers in St Albans or Watford, or Progress in Letchworth - none of which I've tried before.

Laser was hardly just down the road but at least it was an option (and I had my last service done there in January 2009.) They made no mention that they were out of the Skoda game come the end of the same month.

Harumph :(

Gerry, they have been gone for a couple of weeks, used to have a nose around when delivering to Formula 1 next door. there today infact,

have seen a few dealers going recently, big Vauxhall Dealers in Waltham Abbey and Enfield closed last week, seems more and more dealers going overnight.

JCB Skoda in Basildon have gone now, Saunders Abbot in Croydon are no longer Skoda main agents either. So many dealers going under! :(

They gave up the franchise, and were not forced by skoda to do so. Since they ditched the franchise the dealership, which now free from the shackles imposed on them by Skoda, have improved no end. They still service my car, still sell plenty of secondhand skodas and can get spare parts should I need them.
