Got myself a new engine

Featured Replies

Going to dissect this bugger. Got myself a pd block for

If its just the block how have you got the injectors? They are in the cylinder head.

Hmm I thought the conrods / pistons were reinforced on the PD150 compared to the PD100 / 130

either way, £70 isn't bad, as long as it's more than just a crankcase with no cylinder head nor injectors :)

Sorry mate - you should know by now my terminology sucks!

What I have is everything from the sump up to the oil filler cap. Just no turbo or box. I also now know the sump still has oil in it. :D Wonder how? This is a piccie of it. ;) Hope they work

From 2002 the 130 and 150 engine are identicle, the only difference is the headbolts have a different part number so im assuming they are either longer or stronger because in the 150 application it runs higher boost...

In 2001 when the 130 first came out the crankshaft had a different part number so probably a cheaper one but in 2002 they were all the same.

The 100 is a totally different story.

Bad news is the engine had had some kind of catastrophic failure - one piston was knackered. pics to follow. ;) And the head was way beyond re-use. But I have a very good set of injectors now, and the all the bottom end was good too. If anyone knackers a TDI sump - I'm your man. ;)

All the crank and big ends, etc were all very good too. :D Was very interesting to see how it all worked.

Do me a favour Jason, when you take the rocker cover off take a picture under there for me, Just out of interest :D

Don't worry mate. I took photo's all along the way - one quite an amusing :D shot.... Not sure which thread to put it in yet - probably car chat as this isn't really model specific. ;)

Was the piston holed or melted?

out of interest jason, why?

Those pics just go to show how tall that PD lump is...

Morbid curiosity on my part as to how engines work, in their intricate detail, and to get some useful spares for my engine.

Imagine if you could get a 20vt engine for

with my plans there is going to be very much left as standard anyway so not really no :D

Even down to the head, block, crank, etc? Do tell. :D

the 3 you list will stay the same J but a lot else will change hopefully :)

rods

pistons

bearings

valves

manifolds

turbo

injectors

just a quick list off the top of my head :)

hi mate have you got the picture that show the injectors in place. i love to know how they fit and work

This is about the only good shot. Its basically what you get when you remove the cam cover on top. You're looking at the camshaft there on the left going up and down, and in each of the 4 spaces to the right is an injector. :)

DSCN9873.JPG

so i guess by looking at that the injectors are cam driven..ie the engine has 3 cam shafts 2 for valves and 1 for injectors??

  • Author

Well, it has 1 camshaft, but I think you mean there's 12 lobes in all? 1 lobe for each injector and valve? I'm not 100 sure myself. :D

1 camshaft, the injectors are driven off it, hence the width of the cambelt.

the 1.9 is only a 8v engine...

the new 2.0 is 16v

If nothing else, once you've taken everything you want off the engine, you're going to have some quality paperweights on ebay.

they brought out a 2.0 L favia vrs 16v Diesel

 The Golf 2.0 16v TDI engine hasn't found its way into a Fabia yet - only the Mk2 Octavia, :)
