Starting issues

Hi all.

I started this new topic cause i couldn't find the exact same issue to mine

 

I own Skoda Octavia mk2 2l pd tdi L&K with 94k on the clock.

It starts as it should but if i stop the engine and try to start it again a few times in less then an hour im talking about short journeys it wouldn't start.

It try to crank the engine but just wouldn't start?

 

If i left the car for 30-40 min it will start again straight away as it nothings wrong with it.

I didn't notice this before cause im normally driving to my work it sits in a car park for 9 hours and im driving straight home without stopping the engine.

 

Does anyone has the exact same issues?How can i fix it.

Probably the battery is on its way out, when warm the engine needs 300 rpm before it will start, this is not the case when cold, if its not the battery it could be a weak starter motor or bad earth point, best to get the battery load tested.

Our Vauxhall Corsa had the same problem. It was the crankshaft sensor that was playing up. This sensor determines when to spark and fire up. £40 spent and the problem was solved. Just noticed you have a diesel so no spark plugs. Do diesels have an equivalent sensor for the glowplugs?

The TDi does have a crankshaft sensor to control injection timing, so can cause similar issues. The glow plugs have a relay to control them, but if this goes wrong it normally effects cold staring.

Thanks for the fast reply.So its definitely no air in the fuel system or something else?

 

Im gonna go to a vw specialist tomorrow and see what they saying about it

my Octavia is the same it starts in the morning no problem, but when its warm it runs for about a 2 seconds and cuts out.

I have changed the crankshaft sensor no different.

I have to turn the key for about 4 seconds and it goes no problem then.

Mine doesn't cuts out at all it goes as it should but it won't start again after the engine warmed up.its weird.

I phoned a skoda garage and they said it's nothing to do with the crankshaft sensor.i don't know what could be.

Just a thought from way off left field but could it be a stIcking anti-shudder flap?

Did you ever get the battery load tested? 

What you are experiencing is a well known problem especially in winter when the battety is cold,

sounds like the hot start issue, there's a bit thread on it somewhere
