Maxidot Advice Please

Featured Replies

Hi all,

After playing around with the button and wheel/button on the RHS of the steering wheel I eventually managed to get the Maxidot to display my speed dogitally which is very handy where I live due to the high numbers of speed cameras and saves me creeping inadvertently over the speed limit.

However my wife was driving the Scout today and so I thought I'd try using the SatNav for the first time.

I must say that, on first impressions I found it very good but, using it the digital speed on the Maxidot disappeared to be replaced by a "cut-down" SatNav screen!

What do I have to do to retain the Maxidot speed display whilst using the Infotainment SatNav?

You need to press the "back" button (right hand side of wheel to right of scroll wheel) which has an arrow on it, to come out of the Navigation Maxidot screen. You should then have the menu for all the different Maxidot screen types (driving data, audio, vehicle, phone etc). Scroll up or down with the right scroll wheel to driving data, press the right scroll button in to go into driving data, then scroll up/down until you get the digital Speedo. Press the right scroll button in to accept it.

AFAIK the system always switches to Nav instructions on Maxidot after setting a destination and I'm not aware of a setting to turn that off.

You can have the maxi-dot display set to whatever you like. But when you start a satnav route the maxidot automatically goes to satnav directions too, which is sometimes useful, but you can override it by Pressing the right had button on steering wheel, then use the thumb wheel to scroll though to driving data, then scroll through till you find current speed, obviously if your not moving will read 0. I would just sit in the car for 10 mins and have a play around with it, it’s fairly easy to change the display.

Then while your there, have a play with the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel, your car also talks,,,,,opps ahenners beat me to it, as he said.

No need to scroll the thumb wheel, just press it!

We do this every time we use the sat nav.

Thank you all for your advice.

SWBoy - do I need to press the RH button before pressing the thumb wheel or just leave that alone?

Just the right button should return it to the previous display

We always press the RH button and then the thumb wheel - pressing the RH button just brings up the list of car display items, to get back to the speed (or whatever you were looking at) we then press the thumb wheel.

But from what themanwithnoaim says maybe if you just wait it will got back to speed?

One press of the right hand button worked fine without the need to do anything else. Cheers.
