Automatic Braking

Featured Replies

Also had some random braking on mine, sometimes to good use but sometimes it’s dangerous.

Sometimes in complete control and out of the cars wisdom, it decides to brake lol.

I think these systems are okay but will surely only get better along with technology.

It gives a taste of how far technology needs to progress and the issues that need to be tackled before full blown driverless cars are unleashed on the road!

And it will be "interesting" when we have those and traditional cars on the road at the same time!

I'm 65 and I still don't think it will happen in my lifetime. Good!

I think the default setting within the driver menu system is for the Auto Braking to be at it's most sensitive setting. If you reset the system to the lowest sensitivity it behaves far better although you do still get the occasional false alarm from road signs etc as well as other cars.

Lane Assist perhaps?

Front Assist can be desensitised, but not turned off completely.

EDIT: Nope, I'm wrong...

Hi ! The problem is that every time you stop the car and then restart the engine ... the dubious front assist system is AGAIN activated. I have had two serious incident just driving slowly my new Scala at 40mph with sudden hard brakes. I hate this system . I am going to start an international claim against it  . It is a nonsense that a security system , malfunctioning, would be the car crash responsible.

If you set it to min sensitivity will it at least remember that when next restarted?

My 2018 Karoq SE-L remembers the sensitivity level between starts. Set to 'LATE' and it still brakes sharply at blade of grass waving in the wind. 🙄

I've set mine to minimum but still get false alarms. A couple of times it flashed up the warning going round a bend when it sensed a large estate agents to let board on the verge but not consistent as it won't do it every time. This morning the brakes came on momentarily on a country lane, have to wonder if that was light related? I've only had the brakes come on a couple of times both times needlessly and dangerously with following traffic but that was before I changed the sensitivity.
