Spare key issue

Featured Replies

Hi all,

The spare key doesn't operate when trying the remote central locking. I remember from my vectra gsi days you could turn the ignition on and press (hold) the lock button for a few seconds

then you'll hear the doors locking and unlocking then the key was effectively paired to the car.

Is there something like this with the Skoda?

Cheers

No, but the battery may be flat in the spare.

Cheers.....Typical, I believe it's been changed but will replace and have fingers crossed.

If not, guess it's a Skoda programming job.

People generally swap keys once their main one starts to go flat rather than get the battery replaced.

I'll give it a shot and will report results.

Yeah understand that idea, however it doesn't really work if the other half gets a key lol.

There are places you can send remote fobs off to be fixed. One for my 04 Astra packed in a couple of years ago. Tried two different batteries, didn’t work. Sent it off to be fixed, circa £40 later it came back and worked!

Try this. Worked recently on my Bora when the spare key battery was replaced and the key 'de-synched' itself.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb0UdmAVmz4

Unfortunately that never worked and tried another method but failed :-(

Yeah I think I did that for 1 of my other car keys many moons ago.

I think I'll just do that, thanks for the advice

Well tried just about all the suggestions on YouTube etc without success.

I'm planning to replace the battery again (for peace of mind)

On looking at the owners book (yip typical male, last place to look)

It says this...

"This means it is necessary to synchronise the code as follows"

press any button on the remote control.

Pressing of the button means that the door will unlock with the key within 1 minute.

What on earth!! Either that makes no sense or I've been up too long lol
