Oil grade

Recommended Posts

Lads,

I assumed that all oil was the same, as in all 5W 30. Would it matter if i used any of these oils below?

1: TOTAL Quartz Ineo ECS 5w30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil. 5 Litre

2: TOTAL Quartz Ineo Long Life 5w30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil. 5 Litre

Reason being is that it's been serviced using the first one and now the MPG is reduced a lot.

Thanks

All oils are not the same
Look at  Opie oils for clarification
As above should be the spec your looking at:blush:

Looks like for peugeot and citroens

  • International Standards
    • ACEA C2
  • Manufacturer Certifications
    • PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN: B71 2290
    • Meets TOYOTA’s requirements

What derfaldwyn said above is correct.

The option 2 that you mentioned appears to be VW Spec 507.00 approved but I cant see that approval for option 1.  It is mentioned as being Peugeot/Citroen approved. It is a low ash oil (this is important) but I think you should only have the 507 approved stuff in your car.

Always handy if someone says if they are asking about a diesel or a petrol,

because for a diesel it will have to be to VW 507 00, so the 5w 30 FS LL.

But if a TSI and you care maybe forget VW504 00 / 507 Long Life, and use to VW 502 and no Long Life Oils, but longer living engines. (fixed service intervals.)

edbostan,

that would be the same with your 1.2TSI if you want a keeper,

stop using Long Life oil and gowith  5w 40 Full Synthetic so VW 502 00
