Why did you buy a Karoq/SUV?

Featured Replies

Replaced a Spaceback which was brilliant for three years, but our 1.5Tsi manual SEL Karoq is better in every way and only uses about 10 per cent more fuel with far superior performance. Will out accelerate BMW X1 0-100mph, did it the other day much to the surprise of the BMW driver. Great spec as standard, fantastic quality, so quiet I opened the door the other day without switching off the engine. Now done 3,400 miles and economy improved from 43 after 1,000 miles upto current 50 mpg. Great car and very comfortable even on the 18" alloys.

Glad to hear it’s a great car as I have ordered a 1.5 SE-L too but with DSG. :)

Basically, it is the nearest to a Yeti possible. Had Yeti's for  9 years and loved them. Switched to T-Roc to get auto gear and petrol. That was a mistake. The T-Roc (190 HP and 4M) was a great car to drive, but just did not have the room and comfort we were used to. Only Karoq available for immediate delivery was a top-of-the line Style with all the options, except the hook for the enema bag.

yea, for family i would never buy another car than SUV. And Skoda is good quality for good price.

I am lucky to own a Roomster. It has height in the cabin so I don't have to stoop the strap my grandson in the child seat and the van proportions make car boots a doddle. The only problem with SUV models is that if you wash the car yourself a step ladder is required to wash the roof. I am nearing 70 and the old bones and sense of balance is making this more difficult so next time I am buying a saloon where my feet will be on terra ferma. The fashion of buying SUVs I hope will diminish and normal family saloons or hatchbacks will rule the day.

I bougth mine for two reasons.  1] I like the skoda brand, you know what you are getting for a fair price; 2] Direct replacement for the Yeti which I really liked as car.

So for me the Karoq was an obvious choice for a next car.

Replaced a top of the range Rapid Spaceback which was 3 years old and was faster, quieter, just as economical, no longer so still easy to park, very well equipped (even as an SEL), came with 2 free services and 17,500 mile service intervals, a more versatile better quality interior, larger infotainment screen, bigger boot, cheaper insurance and only downside was higher road tax but applies to nearly all new cars. Wife wanted X5 but she is very happy with the alternative and it's less likely to be stolen and shipped abroad in a container.

3 reasons for my order

Baby

Bootspace

Budget

Needed a bigger car and for my budget this was the biggest I could find! Does also help that its probably the best in its class!

Budget

Room

Comfort

:)

As a family car a small 2wd SUV is unbeatable for our needs for a variety of reasons. Practically, shorter than estates, tall tyre sidewalls, high driving position etc.

After a QQ and a Tiguan we chose the Karoq purely on price as they're all more or less the same functionally. £5k over 2 years for a 1.5 SE Tech is ridiculous.

Sounds like you got a bargain there! What profile are you on? I have a good relationship with my leasing guy and he organised a 12+23 @ £150pm which I thought was good!

Yes the timing was superb back in December. We are on a 9+23 that works out the same as yours including white paint.

Ah good man, mine was a December order too! Couldn't say no at the time and dealer said that I was under no obligation to keep the car if I didn't want it until I signed the final paperwork.

That was done at the beginning of the month and car delivered 2 weeks later.

Matter of fact, I have had it over a week now, received the dealer rebate and still not paid them a penny....I suspect they will take the initial rental out soon though!

12 months upfront?

Yup!

I know some people are afraid of the big initial rentals but I look at the overall cost of the lease and this helps keep it down.

I also prefer lower monthlies. Horses for courses and all that...

This is quite a good reason to buy a manual 1.5Tsi SEL Karoq, on a nice commute today.

I am sorry... but how is that possible? After 4500 km with my 1.5 TSI manual, the absolute lowest I can get is around 5.3 l/100 km, that's without air con, driving like 80 km/h in 6th gear which is a painful experience. What do you do to get that sort of mpg?

The air con was on the whole journey because it was between 26.5 and 28.5 degrees outside but I have 35 years experience behind the wheel I could beat the official combined mpg claims on any car. My own car has 302bhp (modified VRS245) should average 42.8mpg but my best was 49.4mpg after the stage 1 re-map.Some people have heavy right foots and brake way too much. You have to look way ahead and anticipate particularly roundabouts so that you do not lose momentum and stop which wastes fuel when you then have to accelerate again.

Ok, so I am guessing roundabouts are a bigger thing in the UK than in Serbia, there are very few here outside of cities, and lots of traffic lights where starting/stopping is inevitable. Still, good advice!

Perhaps,I have to negotiate 12 of them on my way to work and then 12 on the way home, so hitting them when no-one is going round can save you alot of fuel. Try not to brake and accelerate as a result. Also 70 per cent of my commute is on a motorway and I try to stay below 100kph (60mph).

Sorry should have said wife and I had a lovely holiday in Pula, Croatia 3 years ago including a very hot day trip to Venice (35 degrees).

To have weekly phone calls / emails with Skoda and Henrys Cars... I won't know what to do with myself once the car arrives!
