do you reckon the dealers can beat this???

My buying process has moved a little further down the line with my fiancee's old volvo deciding to drop its exhaust!!! Our hand has been forced a little so it's just about 'shopping time'!

I've had a couple of quotes from internet people for a black standard vrs of

I am in the process of buying a vRS from drivethedeal. My local dealer said it was impossible for him to match the price (despite giving him alot of businees in past few years). I filled in the forms online, was contacted by drive the same day, contacted by Skoda dealer in writing two days later. The car is a factory order so 10/12 weeks wait. have received written cnfirmation of order /spec from drive.. I will be first on reg docs, ie identical to walking into dealership. Just had Credit card statement and agreed deposit as come out - paid direct to skoda dealer. Did talk to supplying Skoda dealer as to how price was achieved and he basically said that beacause of the volume of brokers orders he was guarenteed to hit all performance bonuses etc. Also said he would only give this size of discount to brokers order, (ie was not wiling to cut them out of the loop for fear of loosing their business, fair enough!). So far I can only praise the dealer and drive, some on here have also bought cars threw drive and are v happy, will be happier tho when car arrives

Only downside is no p/x available online and from speaking to dealer he is normaly reluctant to take a p/x and will only offer bottom value as has no more money to play with in deal. (Again fair enough)

Was reluctant to buy myself online and wife was sceptical, but took the plunge and so far brilliant. Go for it!

I got my standard Fabia VRS from the dealer with (silver) metallic paint for

I've just bought mine from the main dealer in Exeter who matched the autofinders price of

don't forget that autofinders and the car I'm purchasing are actually pre-reg, not that makes much difference.

Will you be collecting the cehicle or paying to have it delivered?

Sounds like there are still some decent discounts to be had as shown by other posters' comments

As it happens the dealer turned out to be not far from me, and agreed to give me £100/150 for my old car if it made it there, (L reg volvo 440) so saves me disposal and delivery costs! Might need a passport tho if travelling to Lancashire  someone on here travelled from London to pick up, but think of the journey home  Worth remembering that with DTD the cars are not pre-reg so you can have the spec you want ordering. Other brokers I have heard order the cars as Fleet deals so have to have another first owner, Whilst this won't effect the car, if the first owner is a firms name might affect resale?

As a point of interest local dealer said he had 8% in the car and offered me 7% of it in discount (didn't meet dtd by about £400) he said he had to buy the cars from Skoda for more than what his own fleet salesman sold them for:eek: Almost felt sorry for him with all his overheads, plate glass etc, especially as this is the image VAG demand, but then on the other hand al delers in same boat, I guess if he had needed to sell one more car to meet his bonus quota I would have got a better deal tho.

My local dealer just would not budge on any discount so needless to say I walked.

I was prepared to go with DTD but rang around a couple of dealers and asked them if they could match the price I had been given,

Hey Pixi that happened to me at my local dealer, dtd price dearer on their pc than wot I claimed, then when I put my login details in their pc the lower price came up????? Did it recognise another dealer?????????

Just been on dtd site and the price of 'my' car is down by £68 if only i'd had a bit more patience  and still 6 / 8 weeks to go!

I dont think the dealers make much on a new car. So they cant budge much on price. They make their money on after sales etc..

I don't know why winchester were getting a dearer price, but when Freeborn did it it came out the same as what I was getting:confused:

I would try Sparshatts in Fareham as well as you are local.

We bought both of ours there and a friend has just signed up for another today, no one else came close.

Ask for Grant and mention me, Stuart, if you have any problems ask to speak to Steve Cross the dealer principle, he's a nice guy and he should sort you out.

Ok Stu, I'll make sure I check what he can do as well.

I'm not sure if the fact that I want a totally standard one is in my favour or not, but I would hope that it shouldn't be too hard for some dealer to give me a decent price.

I'm not part exchanging anything and I can use private finance if it'll work in my favour so fingers crossed!

I'm test driving a vrs this afternoon at freeborn in southampton.

Interestingly they said it's an 04 model as opposed to the new showroom one that they were going to register. I'm guessing that this may be someone's trade-in againsy a new 06 one (or it could just be something borrowed I guess).

Either way, I shall be sure to let you know what I think after my first drive in a vrs. lol

I know the master tech there, nice bloke. Although the Briskoda name scares him somewhat..lol

Got my Black Magic VRS on Xmas Eve for

Mine came to £11400 for a spanker from a main agent with CD & Cruise. Not my own money but I've never paid within £1000 of screen price for any car and I never will.

Well, I've returned from a very short test drive due to staffing issues at the dealer, although it was enough to deduce that the car is pretty good.

I showed the internet quotes to the dealer who had a bit of a play and came back with the price of £11,500 which I was pretty happy with consdiering that I don't really want to have to use a broker etc.

I'm booked in for a longer test drive next sat am with the dealer pretty confident that they could get a car from stock within a few days if i should want one.

Finance wise the dealer has quoted his 'lowes't rate at 3.99% flat (about 7.7% APR) which, if borrowing £9500, works out at bang on £190 a month over five years (I'll be clearing before then due to a few lump sums I'll be getting over the next couple of years) and a total repaid figure of £11,400. That doesn't include fees which toal approximately £190 and are spread throughout the term.

I must admit, that's a better rate than previosuly quoted although I'm still probably going to use someone such as northern rock at 5.8% APR.
