Bike rack - boot mounted

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have recently bought a slightly used Fabia mk2 - 2014 and am looking into the possibility to carry a bike or two. I have looked at some boot mounted carrier systems from Thule and they look alright, anyone with any experience with these kind of systems or should I spring for a roof rack and bespoke bike rack for the roof?

Example of boot mounted bike rack: https://www.thule.com/sv-se/fi/bike-rack/trunk-bike-racks/thule-freeway-3-_-968001

Thanks

I have used hatch mounted bike racks on mk2 fabia.  Had to mount high on a vRS with no towbar or light bar, to clear number plate and lights,  and take care of the glass, and roof spoiler and disable rear wiper.   There is a good 2 bike bike rack thread in the Citigo section with pictures and stuff,  and one in thus section if you do a search.

I was a semi pro cyclist for a long time.  I found Saris Bones to be the best ones and they don’t interfere with spoilers etc, although nothing beats a Thule towbar mounted one for ease of use.

Roof bar mounted ones are a pain for many reasons, However they are better for security.  I had these when I had a Focus RS, you will end up just leaving the roof rack on and having a dirty roof and having rubbish mpg.

skoda actually make an internal rack for the Combi if you don’t need the back seats up.
