what cars will standard VRS beat off the lights ??

Featured Replies

I ask this question not to start an arguement!!!!

Was just wondering as my 2.2 bertone coupe is pretty good 0-62 i beleive is 8.1 standard, and skoda site states 9.5(6) cant remember now. Not that I break the legal spped limits was honestly just currious!! would it hold its own against my coupe for example..... and there are a hell of a lot of paxo vtr drivers round my way (including my mrs lol).

once remaped say (170-180) what would be reasonable 0-62 time.

only 5 days till i pick it up ;)

Taffic light racing is for ***** and people with small penis'. :thumbdwn: Post like that really lower the tone of any forum. ;)

The vRS 0-60 time is 9.6secs but thats with a driver 3 passengers and average load. Its reall about 8.5.

ALL CARS EVER MADE, INCLUDING F1 CARS AND THE MILLENNIUM FALCON.

PROBABLY ;)

Actually, no. "Off the lights" isn't the Fabia vRS's strong point, as you have to be in 2nd before you make any progress (otherwise you just spin the wheels and/or pull away like a granny). And then you can't get up to 60 without changing up again to 3rd, whereas most 16v petrol cars can do it in 2nd.

The Fabia's strong point is "in-gear" acceleration. Stick it in 3rd at anywhere between 40 and 50, put your foot down, and it will leave quite a surprising range of cars struggling to keep up all the way to the speed limit. Same applies to 2nd at around 25-35mph

You'd be suprised how many petrol cars won't do 60 in 2nd either. ;) Most that can will be pushing over 200bhp and probably 200lb/ft standard.

My 1.6 16v Megane Coupe could quite easily, and it only put out 110bhp so I'm not sure that's true at all! (It was pinging off the limiter by that stage, though!)

It just depends on the gearing - 2nd was quite a 'tall' gear on the Megane, whereas on a lot of cars, 1st and 2nd are both quite low, and then there's a bit of a jump to 3rd...

am not trying to lower the tone as this is great site, sorry if it came accross that way!

did you get the typr R for its fuel economy then?

sorry am just really sarcastic (sorry)

forget whos it is but nice vid of a mapped furby doing 0 - 60 in about 6.4

As the post above suggests, the VRs is strongest pulling away from roundabouts and overtaking, it will keep up with, and often beat, most other "faster" cars in these conditions

Nope, don't really care about fuel economy but being able to do 38mpg on motorways isn't bad. I didn't buy to race people in a straight line off traffic lights. I have nothing to prove.....

true but I was just asking !!

I know the one..... It hardly a very accurite way of measuring 0-60 times.... (watching a video of a speedo and timing it my hand).... IMO a 0-60 time has no credibility whatsoever unles its measure with proper calibrated timing gear.

I stand corrected. ;)

57mph at 8250?!?! how carp!

so if you don't race people, drive fast or put your foot down why did you buy a CTR??

to pose?

Why's that crap? There's plenty of performance cars out there that'll hit limiter in 2nd before they get to 60......

Yes i don't race. But you're gona have to point out where i said i don't drive fast or put my foot cos i've been through this thread twice and can't see it??

to pose?

Its a Honda Civic not a Ferrari!! Fool!

Maybe not as a dead accurate figure but not going to be more than tenths out, even if you say its sub 7 secs, thats f'ing fast for a deisal sub 13k car. Mind you the official ctr times is wot 6.6????? so no sour grapes then:rofl:

pretty quick fish

You can't compare a modified car to a standard one. ;)

You can't compare a modified car to a standard one. ;)

how much would it cost to take 3 seconds off your 0-60 time then :P

What's the standard time on a CTR? 6.5 isn't it?

I can not believe there is a CTR vs Skoda Fabia thread.

I've seen everything now

The 2 litre Fab hits 62 in 2nd, and I've got around 120bhp on mine with 125lb/ft @ 6,250rpm...it's an 8 valve too ;)

I think the guy you're talkin' about is the one who sold it for the girlie car...

:sofahide:

i could get to 60 in second in my old vtr. just.

... from 30-50mph???

I was amazed at the pulling power around this sort of speed today, I really think the fabia would leave a lot of higher powered vehicles 'standing'!!!

Andy Vrs has a Rica remap on his fab vrs and pulled a 6.2s 0-60 and a 15.6s quarter with accurate timing gear... not bad for a diesel!

Well, first off it depends which gear both cars are in!!!

A N/A petrol with similar power to weight ratio will be quicker if he changes down and revs out to 6500rpm.

I own an S2000 as well as having access to Dads vRS. Two completely opposite cars.

The thing is though, I'd never try and do 30-50 quickly in any gear other than 2nd in the Honda...On that basis then I can do 30-50 in about 3 seconds!
