Removing Puncture Repair Kit

Featured Replies

Hi just bought a octavia iii

Sorry in advance if this is a silly question lol

The car came with a puncture repair kit but as I do taxi, it's not the best option. Can I remove it and put a spare wheel with the kit (the plastic thing that sits on top of the wheel holding the jack etc)

Is it just a straight swap or something more?

And where can I get one from and how much am I looking roughly?

Thanks in advance

Yes, the spare just drops right in, it’s a big enough space for a full size 205/55/16 (or whatever size it is) spare.

Thank youuuu

I'm looking to do the same in my new (to me) FL dsg estate, I just need to find a 17" spare wheel with tool set and remove the gunk and compressor.

My Mk2 I swapped over to a proper spare wheel, was about £150 from the dealer.

Idiot gave me a 15" to start with which didn't fit over my brakes - Thankfully I tested it would fit before I needed it as I was suspicious.....

Sold the gunk kit on ebay

If you have 340mm brakes like on my car (pre MY16 vRS TDi) a 16 inch full sized spare won’t fit, you’ll need the 18 inch space saver or another wheel. Better than a can of repair rubbish!

I just scrapped my golf mk4 gt tdi and luckily I kept the spare wheel and kit

Will it fit the octavia iii?

If so I'll keep that as my spare instead of spending money

I'll check tomorrow and find out

Pretty sure the MK4 Golf had a 5x100 stud pattern (PCD). The Octavia MK2 and MK3's use 5x112, so unfortunately I don't think it will...

A MK5 onward Golf uses 5x112, as does MK2 on Leon, later A3/A4/Passat/Superbs etc. Plenty on eBay, just ensure they clear your brakes as SashaGrace says.

Lol I even have a octavia ii which I rarely will be driving now (retired from life of taxi haha) got nearly 270k and drives perfect, it'll only be worth couple of hundred now but worth way more to me, so I've kept it for a run around

So if your right, then the octavia ii spare wheel should fit the octy3 as its based on the golf mk5

Providing the wheel clears the brakes, it will bolt straight on, yes.
