Air con not blowing cold

Featured Replies

So with the heat coming all of a sudden I decided I would treat myself to some air con today. I haven't used it since last summer and when I turned it on it made no difference to the temperature :(

So what are people's thoughts? Do I need to get it read by someone with a vagcom to see if it has any codes or is it more likely to be it has leaked its gas?

It is rather ironic that on another forum I am on people were discussing why should use air con all the time not just summer and then mine stops working.

Mines the same, used last year until few days ago and it just doesn't come out any colder. Can definitely hear the compressor running and the hissing noise inside the cabin so getting it regassed next week. Do you hear any noises when its activated?

The irony is that they're total idiots, because even if you leave it on all the time it does nothing unless the temperature gets above the threshold which never happens in winter, the type of compressor fitted on the Fabia is permanently engaged so it keeps PAG oil circulating whenever the engine's running.

Just get the system leak tested and regassed.

Ta Sep, I did disagree with them.

Will have to wait until pay day but definitely getting it done.

I thought the Fabia I was still of the age that had clutch controlled compressors?

Work trying a re-gas - but then best to find an aircon specialist as some garages that don't know what they are doing chuck expensive parts at the problem but if they are not careful it fails again shortly aftewards.

Actually, checking the wiring to the N280 solenoid valve is a good thing to start with. It goes via the same bracket on the front of the gearbox as the troublesome alternator signal wires, Same flimsy wiring, brownish connector pair.

No noises at all.
