Octavia Vrs 2.0 TDI manual

Featured Replies

Hi! I have Octavia Vrs 2.0 TDI manual and I get problems to start, sometimes is cranking like 10 sec and then start.Always start but is take a long time.Skoda told me it's normal  but it can't be.

It’s not ‘normal’ per say, but some TDi engines do this. It’s a software issue or something that they never solved. Mine does it too on occasion.

Mine does every week, don't know how to fix , cos they said there is not any software update for your car,I think have live with it .Thanks for replay

Mine is the same, there is a fault that comes up when it happens and it's a pain in the backside, normally i switch on and wait for a couple of seconds before fully turning the ignition and its not as bad.

Yeah, I do the same, when all lights gone, wait for 5 sec more and it's starts ok, but not always, I check the  battery , but battery is ok

The Mk7 Golf GTD also does this (same engine) no known fix either. Had the GTD before the Vrs

That's a shame for gtd and Vrs ,  awesome cars but , I hate that problem

Well I went for petrol now. After having 3 golfs all diesels and living in London a new diesel was not a good idea lol

Probably, I will go for petrol is well next time,.. 1.4 tsi is quite good on fuel and nippy

I'm not sure if it could be something similar to this. I stumbled on it when trying to work out what a noise was on my current 2.0tdi octavia. I believe it's the same engine?https://youtu.be/DXvHdmq0reA

It can be something like that, bit when you go in garage ,they even don't wanna thinking what it can be, cos there is not fault codes

Buy a petrol VRS, starts instantly every time, much quieter, much quicker, same road tax now as well.

That's  right, I will go next time for petrol

Mine does this sometimes, particularly first start of the day. Find if you put the ignition to 'on' for a few seconds before turning it to the 'start' position, it fires up like normal. It's almost as if it takes a few seconds for the glow plugs to warm up or fuel pump to switch on.
